2 Xbox1s on one home network, how do I get Nat settings to open on both?

Any network work savvy people know how to config a home network so that 2 Xbox1s can both run at the same time with "Nat Open" setting?

If trying to use two consoles on the same network you cannot use portforwarding or -triggering as ports can only be forwarded to one device at a time. And as porttriggering in most cases includes the forwarding of the opened ports to the opening device it's
not working either. Same thing with using DMZ.

So as you only forward the ports to one console even if configured for "any" only one device will get them and gets set to "open" but by this the ports are unavailable for the second one and this one gets "strict".

Only way to have working more than one console on the Dame network is to use UPnp as this normally gives you at least moderate NAT on both consoles, which usually works without problems.

Only exception is CoD where it's not possible to play online in the same lobby. But this is a CoD restriction only.

The Netgear Nighthawk R7000 (AC1900) should support multiple console support, if not Netgear have messed up any of their new firmware versions that is.

 

It depends on your router.

You need to use UPnP and only UPnP.

Port forwarding or DMZ will cause NAT problems on one of the consoles.

Not all routers have UPnP that can work with 2 Xboxes though.

So you should post the make and model number of your router to confirm whether it will work or not.

 

Usually with two boxes on the same router with UPnp configured, you will get moderate NAT on both of them which is usually working without problems. Only same games, like CoD, don't allow you to play in the same lobby together.

 

I'm using a Cisco Gateway, Device Type XB3 / Model DPC3939.

 

So far I have:

1 - Set static IP address on both XB1s (10.0.X.X)

2 - Disabled Port Forwarding

3 - Disabled Port Trigering

4 - Disabled DMZ

5 - Enabled UPnP

6 - Cycled power to Gateway and both XB1s

Result was NAT Type Moderate on one XB1 and Strict on other XB1

 

According to this thread in the Network forums your router does not support multiple consoles.

If you do want more than one xbox to have an open NAT at the same time you would have to buy a new router that is compatible.

Just look through the network hardware information forums.

You will just have to go through all the routers listed and see if multiple console support is confirmed.

I don't know of any websites that lists only the compatible routers unfortunately
