2 Xbox 360s in same home

a - 2 or more xboxes in the same house online will work, but you may need to check your router settings to get an open NAT on both. (Shadowman had a great guide, but sadly no-longer online)

You will both need a live subscription to play online.

b - you need a disk in both machines but, because of the way DRM works, downloaded games can be played on 2 machines as long as the game is first loaded on one machine, then the owner of the game moves to the other machine and logs into live. (bit of a fudge
but works well for a family with more than one box)

Also, not all games have a system link option - Forza games use system link as multiple views on the same car! In this case you would need 2 live accounts.

Good news is older multiplayer games (gears, halo3 etc) can be picked up for peanuts so a 2nd disk is not really a problem if you can afford a 2nd console! (also look out for Games for Gold freebies. You can download Halo Reach if you are quick and do it
today)

It is possible for two people in the same house to play together and with other friends on multiplayer online as long as they both have xbox live gold memberships, they would each need their own copy of the game

they need to make it 2 player split screen from the same system for the homes that only share one xbox 360

If both Xbox consoles are
signing into the same gamertag/account at once, one session will automatically get signed out. I suggest creating an new account for your son.

If you have a digital game library and an active Gold subscription, you can share both of those with your son

using the "Gold/Game-sharing" feature. A recommended way to achieve this is to

set your son's Xbox as the "home" console.

I recommend checking our
Xbox Live Child Settings page for information on making sure everything is set up appropriately to play M rated games. Next, you will want to make one of the Xbox One consoles your Home Xbox One console. That will allow any account that is signed-in on
that one particular Xbox One console to share games with the account that the Home is set to.

For example, if account A (preferably the account that already owns all of the games) has set up a Home console, account B & C will be able to play account A's games without A needing to actively be signed-in. If you own a second Xbox One console, account
