2 xbox 1 gold account, still can't set this up!

So for the sake of repeating myself again for the upmpteenth time, I have just bought a second xbox one s for my kids so that they can play together and with friends on one gold account; as advertised by Microsoft, but I can't get this to work!

I have tried setting the new (2) console as home with (1) as the gold account only and I have tried (1) as home with (2) as secondary account. My original gold profile works on both consoles as expected but my second non gold profile does not work on either!

Is this yet another ploy by Microsoft to make people spend yet more money on stuff that doesn't work? My experience so far would confirm this!

If anyone has any practical advice other than the reems of other posts on the subject that would be helpful!

I don't understand why this stuff needs to be so complicated, surely both xboxs are running on the same IP address so why is it so hard to set up account sharing?

FYI I now only have 2 more attempts to get this right as I have already changed the home console 3 times!

You can't share a single subscription simultaneously on both consoles.

The person with the subscription can set one of the Xbox's as their home Xbox. Anyone else that uses that Xbox can share your subscription using their profile.

What can be shared

Share your Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription with anyone else who signs in to
your console.

Share games and downloadable content purchased from Microsoft Store with anyone else who signs in on
your console. You can even share games downloaded as part of a subscription.

And again that makes no sense! As I already stated I've tried using both xbox as home console but second account can't use live so I've just wasted yet more money buying an xbox that won't work unless I spend even more money on a second live account!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is designed to be used on a single console where you set the profile with the Gold account as the console's home xbox. If you want to use two console then you will have to set one of the consoles as the home Xbox of the profile with the Gold Subscription.
If you want to use the second console with that subscription then the profile will have to stay logged in on that console.

If you set the one that your child/children use as your Home Xbox and then you sign your account out, they can sign on that Xbox with their accounts and use your Xbox Live Gold and share any age appropriate games that you have. You can then sign in on the
other Xbox and use your Xbox Live Gold subscription and have access to all your games etc. It is clear in the link I sent previously as to how it works. You can not be signed on on 2 seperate consoles with the same gamertag. Your child/children will need their
own seperate gamertags linked to their own seperate email address.
