    I just bought two official Microsoft wired XBOX 360 controllers for my original XBOX 360. When both are plugged in, they both register as player 1, and one of them doesn't work. Unplugging and re-plugging, turning the system off and on again, going into
    system settings... nothing is working.

    Seriously?

    Why would Microsoft build multiple USB ports into their machines if their own official controllers don't work simultaneously in them? I literally bought these two controllers for the sole purpose of playing two-player locally, but apparently that's too much
    to ask of a system that seems to have been built for that kind of thing; what with the multiple USB ports and everything...

    Has anyone else had or heard of this problem? Any fixes? Thanks.

    I purchased 2 xbox 360 wired controllers and they both default to player 1. Is there anyway to fix this problem?

    2 Wired Controllers not connecting properly

    I have the same problem with both controllers only seen as Player 1. They are both the black MS Xbox 360 wired controller. I tried all the ports, one at a time, together, on, off etc. Nothing works. I can only use one wireless and one wired if I want
    2 players but not 2 wired together. Help! Is there a fix? Otherwise I will return the wired controllers and buy just wireless.

    Problem Connecting my 2 wired controls

    Yeah, i have 2 wireless controls and connect fine if i put 2 wired and 2 wireless connect togheter, the wired connect to player 1 and wireless connect to player 2 and the other to player 3. The problems is only in the wired conttrols, they connect both
    to player 1.

    I recently experienced this exact same problem. (about a month ago)

    Two brand new wired controllers and when plugging them into the USB slots on the front of the Xbox 360 S both showed up as Player 1.

    I had 6 other wired controllers to run some tests with and eventually identified the faulty controller.

    All of the other 7 wired controllers paired up as Player 1 and Player 2 except for one controller which still comes up as Player 1 no matter what we did or tried.

    I eventually returned the faulty controller and they exchanged it for me.

    Hello again.

    We tried the first two controllers at a friends house today before we turned them in, it was the same sync problem. He had an older version of the dashboard but his xbox is the newer black one.

    ***NOTE that he had his own wired controller and THAT one put itself as "player number two" as it should. If we put our two controllers after his controller. our controllers fought over player 2 instead.

    We went to the store and they tried the previous controllers at the store and had the same problem on their xbox.

    Just now we got home and tried the two "new" controllers we changed in the store. Exact same problem!

    So what in gods name is going on? Massive production errors? :S

    Hi and thank you for the reply. I am going to replace them today so I'll post later if they have the same problem. I won't have acces to another xbox console until a few days time though.

    I have had connection to xbox live for a few years now.

    The dashboard is the latest version I presume cause I always update when the Xbox tell's me there's a new update.(It, wasn't that long ago that the dashboard changed user-interface).
