2 of the 3 Elite controllers I've purchased have broken

To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.

I bought my first one back when they launched in the UK. I liked it so much that a few weeks later I bought a second one.

A couple of weeks ago, the first Elite developed a fault. Pressing up on the D-pad wasn't registering a lot of the time. I returned it to Amazon and got a refund, as they had no more in stock and couldn't say when they'd be getting any.

I then purchased one from the Microsoft Store. When it arrived, the cross-shaped D-pad wouldn't fit on it. I had all kinds of issues getting MS to send me a replacement D-pad, but eventually they did and it arrived yesterday, so I started using my new Elite
controller last night. It just broke. With the right trigger stop enabled, when I pull the trigger, it hits the trigger stop, but then it clicks and moves down even further and feels like the trigger is catching. When this happens, the trigger stop switch
on the back of the controller moves up and down.

So despite these things costing £120 each in the UK, I've had a personal failure rate of 66.66%. That's alongside my Day One controller, which was faulty out of the box, the replacement Day One controller breaking after a few months, and 2 other regular
Xbox One controllers breaking and having to be replaced by Amazon. So 6 faulty controllers in total - 2 Day Ones, 2 Elites and 2 regular ones - all with either faulty D-pads, faulty shoulder buttons, or both.

I take care of all of my stuff. I've not dropped any of my controllers. I owned a bunch of 360 controllers, all of which have seen a decent amount of use and have lasted me years, but the Xbox One controllers seem to have a life of anything from 2 days to 6
    months in my experience.

    :)

Xbox OnePC Controler unusable after 1 and a half year! Programed inbuild obsolenscense

I dunno why people are so anti-consumer about this.

I've been gaming since the 1970s. I've owned one or more consoles in every generation. In all of that time as a gamer, I've had 8 broken controllers: -

An Xbox 360 controller that developed minor stick drift after many years as being my main controller for both the 360 and PC gaming.

7 broken Xbox One controllers - 4 regular controllers and 3 Elites. 2 of those controllers were broken out of the box, including my Day One controller. Even with the Xbox One controllers that "worked", I've had regular issues with them disconnecting where
the sound starts to break up in my headset, the controller disconnects then reconnects, but then it says I have no mic and I have to manually turn the controller off and back on to get the mic working again. This has happened with several original Xbox Ones
and all of the controllers I've owned and it's only when I switched to an Xbox One X that it stopped happening - or at least, it hasn't happened yet.

So in all of those years of gaming, all 8 broken controllers I've had have been made by Microsoft, but 7 of them have been Xbox One controllers. Don't try and tell me it's something I'm doing unless "using a controller to play a game" somehow counts as misuse
now. Saying "my 360 controller has never broken" isn't even relevant to the OP's post, as he's talking about Xbox One controllers.

    What controller do you have?

I'm looking to purchase V2 of the elite since my first elite cracked 3 months after having it. (I've never had any controller break before). Right now I run with the Sea of Thieves controller.

Xbox Controller Future (elite and others)

I haven't had many issues with my Elite controller.

I had one then when I got the Xbox One X I let my brother use it along with my first Xbox, the LB on that controller is now broken ( I think due to it being dropped and pressed too hard) the one I use now doesn't have any issues and I've still got another
Brand new back up controller. so I have 3 in total and 2 are thanks to the Xbox Ambassador program :)

I use the Elite controller for the paddles and trigger locks and everything else it offers and I love it, so much that I'm getting the Series 2 when it comes out.
