? #2 Kinect Adapter

Just in case I missed pigs flying or something...does anyone know if Xbox has decided to do the right thing and provide complimentary adapters to those of us who had previously paid for the Kinect so own it when the xbox x was purchased(I received mine as
a Christmas gift)? I mean seriously since when has it come acceptable to sell a product that doest not come with everything needed to allow it to work with existing equipment ….it's not like we got any sort of price break on any of it and the cost is astronomical!!!!!!!!!!
It's almost the same price as the Kinect...it's so sad So again in case you forgot since I ramble...has xbox decided to do the right thing yet & provide the adapter complimentary?

Microsoft discontinues Xbox One Kinect adapter

 

There was only one program that gave complimentary Kinect adapters, and that was when the Xbox One S first came out in 2016. Microsoft did not do the same with the release of the Xbox One X in 2017. The Kinect adapter was officially discontinued back in
early January 2018, so I would not expect a possibility of Microsoft giving out free adapters anymore.

If you're looking to play Kinect games, your only options are to either play it on an original model Xbox One, or buy an adapter on Amazon (OEM or third-party).

 

Well I guess, first let me just say, I put this in the discussion section because I really did not expect that they were going to be handing them out at this point, despite my being very disappointed in Microsoft because of it
and another issue i have had of late.

I have repeatedly asked about this adapter since it’s purchase periodically… It was a gift to me in December 2017. Not once did Microsoft Mention to me nor did I find any information that it was discontinued!

h Xbox customer support About a month ago and nope not a word about it having been discontinued back in January of this year! Freaking hysterical!

Lastly and certainly not least, I do understand that quite often people use Kinect for Kinect games....I for one, used it majoritIvely as a camera and microphone for my Xbox. Initially I used it exclusively for Skype… And over
the course of time , if it were functioning , I would use it to stream!

But regardless of the use of it , when somebody purchases a piece of hardware for a gaming system, they are always making an investment. Whether that investment is for themselves or for their kids , not to mention the investment
made into the system itself.

I personally purchased my Xbox one and my Kinect Not too long before the S was released(relatively speaking) . I then received my Xbox X as a gift last Christmas after pointing out to my husband how cool it looked… I was excited
for the graphics... I was looking forward to a couple years down the road buying it.

When you spend that kind of money on a system that is an upgrade from the current system that you have, a customer has the right to expect That if the hardware functions on the new system that any necessary Adapters Are included
in that exorbitantly huge price! When I discovered that my Kinect would work but only if I purchased an adapter that cost almost the same amount as the actual Kinect it blew my mind! And then all Microsoft would say is that it was sold out… They wouldn’t
even could say it was discontinued they said it was sold out! As a long time loyal Xbox customer(Through the years I purchase my kids Xbox’s And then myself) I would’ve hoped that They would recognize that many people do Sorry… Did .....Use the Kinect For
exactly the same purpose that I did....That they would have done the right thing especially since they did it for the S!

I don’t understand ......it’s bad marketing it’s bad for business it’s just leaves People with a bad taste in their mouth after they’ve purchased a very expensive system...... amazing graphics and I love the system but I really
have no interest in spending $80 minimum In order to make my Kinect work with my Xbox(And I guess since they decided to discontinue the adapter that… Neither did Microsoft realistically). I guess it would be cheaper for me to go out and buy a new camera
and microphone then it would be for me to buy this adapter for the Kinect I already own.... it’s just a shame....Just saying

That's not true. The 2tb S console came with the stand not a Kinect adapter.

Microsoft no longer manufacture the adapter so are not going to give it out for free.

If you used a Kinect for streaming or skype you can use a basic webcam now for the same purpose

 

I guess my point in all of this is that I already spent the money on the Kinect for that purpose & because Microsoft couldn’t be bothered to support its own hardware , we have no choice but to go & pay more money for something else which I think is ridiculous.
It’s the principle of the thing that gets to me.

 

Microsoft do support it on the console it was designed for (well used to until they stopped supporting it all together last year) You decided to purchase additional hardware that did not natively support it. Everyone knew it did not have the Kinect port
since launch. You made that decision with all the knowledge available

 

Actually, things I saw was that it was compatible with it that you could use it And you can if you spend almost $100 on an adapter. And remember one other thing I said I received it as a gift but I got the Kinect with my Xbox one...Depending how you look
at it one generation behind the Xbox X. And you said it yourself they don’t support it any longer at all but I have spoken with numerous Microsoft employees in customer service and also in technical support and not one of them ever said to me that it was discontinued
I had no idea until someone here told me and I asked about it every time I had an interaction with technical support for a different primary reason. That’s the kicker hear from me and like I said I put this in the discussion category not because I actually
expect Microsoft to do anything because they haven’t done anything and they obviously aren’t going to. My opinion is not going to change on the subject I feel strongly that if you advertise something as being able to use hardware that is made by your company
that people are using and this is an upgrade then you should make sure that it doesn’t have to have an adapter and if you do have to sell an adapter maybe make it I don’t know some reasonable price and not some highly inflated ridiculous amount of money By
the way I absolutely love my Xbox You can love something and be unhappy with the way certain things are handled that’s for sure.
