2 consoles in one house for 2 sons

Hello. I have just bought a xbox series s console for my son. My older son has the xbox one s.

My older son has the xbox game nhl 22 plus many other games. If my younger son wants to play nhl 22 on his console , do we have to purchase the game again? It seems crazy, but that is what it is asking us to do. We already purchased the game last year (downloaded it). Is there any way to play it on the second xbox console , while my younger son is signed in on his gamer tag? This is what it says " Do you own this game or app? if you bought this online, make sure your signed in... if you don't have the rights for playing it you'll need to get it at the Microsoft Store. "

So we did buy it. My older son bought it. He is signed in on my younger son's xbox series s. But my younger son selects his own gamer tag , then doesn't have access to the game...

Also to make matters worse, I can play the game under my gamer tag.

So 3 different gamer tags

Only 2 gamer tags have access to the game?

The 3rd gamer tag can't play...

When you purchase a digital game, you are purchasing a single user license to play the game. This means that one kid can play it at a time.

He's not transferring them to his brother. He's transferring a console license to his brother's console so his brother can access them on his own account. When you purchase digital content, you're given 2 licenses; one for your account and one for your console. The account license lets you access the content you purchased on any console as long as you're signed into your account. The console license allows others to access your games on the console with that license.

So if your older son sets your younger son's console as his Home, your older son an continue playing his games while he's signed in on his own console. Your younger son would then also be able to play the games on his own console because it has your older son's licenses.
