2 consoles BRICKED after latest update attempt

PSA - Both my and my son's boxes are getting uncorrectable E100 and E102 errors after our "always on" boxes attempted to load the latest update by themselves. The OS is corrupted, so I can't manually do an offline update. They will NOT reset, in part or
in whole. Luckily ol' paranoid me has OEM disk images for both of them, and I have already fixed one of the boxes by re-imaging the HDD and then applying the update offline. I will do the same for my son's tonight.

You have been warned. Any comment, Xbox?

BRICKED CONSOLE after latest update!!!!!!!

Today (0/06/2014) at about 8AM EST I updated my console.

I walked away and took a shower only to come back to a frozen log in screen. No response from the kniect either.

Picture from kniect still showed me on the couch. No response from controller.

Powered down at console and used controller to power back on.

No audio or splash screen, just black. Then IT happened.
The ring of doom and the fan went
full speed. Rinse and repeat= same ol.

Checked my security video to see if something happened while I was gone. All I had seen was the console finished the download and restart by itself.

YES my console is clean.

YES my console is cool.

NO there were no power interrupts during the update process. UPS/serge

You've just admitted to self repair on a Microsoft forum. Unless the rules have changed then self-repair is a bannable offence. Fortunately since the enforcement team don't read this forum, you'll probably be okay.

 

I reviewed the rules and they are very vague. They recommend sticking to Xbox-approved procedures, but it doesn't expressly state anything about self-repair. Anyway, it's a pretty severe issue. Had I not had those disk images I would have likely had to send
in these consoles for repair, and at my own expense. Unacceptable.

 

Reading over the latest "Pinned" in these forums gives the impression that the latest X1 console update is a bricker.

Don't they test these updates before releasing them??????

Guess not.

I won't update until XBL demands it.
