2 children, 2 xboxes, how do I share games?

    Hi

Surely I'm not the first person to ask this....

As above. I have two children, each with their own xbox in their own bedroom. How does my daughter play my son's games on her xbox? So for example, my son has Forza on a disc, on his xbox. How does my daughter play Forza on her xbox in her bedroom?
I appreciate that they won't be able to play on it at the same time.

Apparently as a parent I don't have to buy two copies of the game. Microsoft support are of no use sadly. Can anybody provide me with a plain english guide to how to do this please? Directing me to the 'Home xbox' won't help as it is not clear to people
like me who don't know what Home xbox means.

    Thanks

    :)

What Home Xbox does ... When a user sets their console as their account's Home Xbox, it stores a copy of their game licenses on that one console. That allows anyone who signs into it to access any game content that user owns.

So, for your setup, your son would want to set his account to your DAUGHTER's Xbox console, and your daughter would set her account to your SON's Xbox console. Both will actually sign into their own consoles, but with the Home Xbox feature, your daughter
would then be able to play any digitally-owned games your son has on his account. Meanwhile, your son can still access games he owns by signing into his console.

As Zero stated, the disc copy can be installed on multiple consoles, but only the console that has the disc in its optical drive can actually play it. The reason for that is because the disc IS the license for the game. It's no different than having just
one copy of an 80s-90s era game cartridge.

Disc games can not be game shared. They require the disc to be in system to be played.

Digital games are what can be game shared via this method.

More or less go to settings, Personalization set home xbox.

You want to set your SONS home to your daughters system, and your daughters home to your sons. Then all games will be playable on both systems.

When you purchase the game digitally, it comes with two licenses (copies). One attaches to your gamer tag, the other attaches to what is known as your "Home" Xbox. As a heads up, the Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass work this same way, requiring only one active
subscription each to enjoy on two systems.

Gamer Tag License: This follows you wherever you go. If you go to a friends house and log on to their system, then you can download and play the games attached to your gamertag. Upon logging out, the game will still be there downloaded but only your Gamer
    Tag can play it.

Home Xbox License: This attaches to a specific console and can be change a few times a year, not that I recommend changing it. Your Home Xbox License is like the disc version of the game and anyone that logs on to that specific Xbox can play the game. You
go into your System settings and choose a specific Xbox to be your Home Xbox.

Example, I have an Xbox is my theatre room and one in my office. My theatre room Xbox is set as my Home Xbox and anyone in the family can play the games on it or people I invite over. My office Xbox I log into and download and play games. Other family members
or friends cannot play the games on my office Xbox unless they already own the game. I can have a friend over and they can login and play Destiny on my theatre Xbox and I can play with them using my office Xbox.

For your scenario, someone described it above. You should have one child log into the other's Xbox and set it as their Home Xbox and the same for the other child. Now you only need to purchase games and Gold for one account with both getting the benefit.

One issue to think about is that whenever you get a new game, the child who's Xbox is the home one may have to go in and download the game to the console. After that the other child can play it as much as they want.

Xbox one - Game and Gold Sharing

Ok first you can only share the gold between 2 consoles as you know. I would have brought everything through the parent account to be shared since thats how your currently sharing the gold with the children.

Thank you - My plan was to purchase the new game on Child 1 X box - as Dad account. I have a code, so will try it now. Cheers
