2 accounts confuses me

This no doubt has been asked and answered a hundred times before and my most sincere apologies for asking it again but after reading about 40 posts that looked like they might be what I'm asking I still haven't found the answer I'm looking for. I have 80$
in my xbox live account and my son has 4$ in his. To the best of my knowledge from what I have read, I cannot transfer money or credit to his account from mine and if I download a DLC on my xbox live account he wont be able to access it from his. Hopefully
that makes sense but if it does not..... he wants the new arcade DLC for Dead Rising 3 and has finished the game under his xbox live account. I would gladly download it on mine using my money but he said he wont be able to play it from his account and would
have to start a new game under my xbox live account in order to access it. Is this correct ? is there a thread I can read that explains it to me. If possible I need the most easiest to understand walk through of how to do it if there is a way. Explain it
to me like I have never turned on an xbox in my life. Thanks so much in advance for any help that I get.

You are correct in that you can't transfer money between accounts. However, as long as your console is set as your Home console, your son should have access to games and content you download on your account.

That's correct. Depending on where and how you set your account up for the first time, the system will generate a random GT (Gamer Tag) for you. It's a random adjective + random noun + random set of numbers.

After you have your account set up, you can do a GT change for the first time (within 30 days of account creation) and change it to w/e you want. After that it's $9.99 per change.

The first is given when you create an account ,you can pick your own for free once, after that you have to pay,that's how it use to be I believe its still the same.
