    1YR Prepaid failed to work after support's help.


    First off, I apologize I didn't just do this through the chat - I just don't have time and I keep forgetting so I'm hoping the issue can be resolved behind the scenes while my chaotic life continues.

    Some time ago, I attempted to enter a prepaid code for 1 year of XBL Service that I purchased @ a local retailer.

    It failed to work, so I hopped on live chat with customer support and after about twenty minutes they removed my current form of payment from active billing cycle and applied the code. BOOM - Thanks! All set.. I'm good to go for a year..

    About two weeks later.. I get an email from Microsoft saying my PayPal has been hit for the monthly fee.. Say what?

    Obviously, I'm busy - It's been like two months since this happened BUT I know everything is logged on "YOUR" end.. so hopefully we can resolve this.

    Please - take a look - I'd really appreciate the money I spent to be put to use. I saved the Prepaid card JUST in case.. so let me know how I might help.

    Oh and apologies if this wasn't the proper forum for this topic.

    TL;DR - Entered 1YR code - Didn't work - Support applied the code for me - Two weeks later / I'm billed again for monthly access.

    Sorry to hear it. It sounds as though you had purchased a membership on the console. Those auto renew unless you turn it off and would have been the reason you couldn't apply the purchased membership in the first place.

    Unfortunately no one here will be able to help with this as only phone support can handle billing issues. You'll need to contact them in order to get this straightened out.

    To confirm, you were on auto renewal correct? If so, let me explain how the billing system works. 1YR Prepaid failed to work after support's help. :)

    You are CHARGED on your account anniversary date if you created the account on your Xbox 360 or Xbox.com. If on an Xbox One, you're billed on your Accounts first purchase date. This is when your billing cycle starts,

    For example:

    You created your account on the first of September and signed up for Auto Renwal. You are now a gold member and your card will be charged immediately. If you continue auto renwal, your card will be charged again on the first of October. If you continue Auto
    Renwal, your subsciption will renew on the 31st of October, but your card will not be charged until the first. If you cancel on the 31st of October, you would still be charged on the first of November because you have already started a new billing cycle,
    but you will not be charged on the 1st of December, but you would still have Gold until the 29th of November. You more then likely canceled your Auto Renew when it had already started a new billing cycle.

    Should you have any other concerns, feel free to post back.

    Since we are not Microsoft employees, I don't think we are in a position to comment on how Microsoft deal with returns internally.

    I can only say, from my own direct experience, that when my Xbox one x failed, after talking with support staff, and going through all their steps( they were very helpful incidently, and sent follow up emails to check on my returns progress), they replaced
    my console with no issues, after having It 1yr and 7months.

    Unless I'm missing something the OP hasn't sent it in for repair, Microsoft has not seen the console in question.
