1X degrades cable picture

Pretty disappointed, i noticed how terribly The Walking Dead looked when i was watching it through my new Xbox One X. I then plugged the cable box directly into my 55 inch 4k TV and it looked WAY better. Like going from 480p to 1080p or even better.

I really hope Microsoft will fix this, until then no more watching cable on X1X for me.

HDMI leads whats difference b/ween cheap & costly? A big difference

Im using my ps3 gioteck £13.99 hdmi cable now on my xbox 360, cheap ones rnt shielded as well and so will degrade faster. ive ordered a official hdmi cable. and when i talk about quality im refering to build quality, not picture.

 

What should i use a Component or Hdmi Cable?

HDMI is superior for a few reasons, most of which stem from the fact that it's a digital connection. These are the most common & important...





1: There is no digital to analog conversion necessary, which can degrade the picture. Also, there is no need to then reconvert the analog signal back to digital, which can further degrade PQ.





2: Digital either works or it doesn't... Meaning "quality" is no real issue. Cheap analog cables will yield a poor picture. Since a digital signal is basically a string of 1s & 0s, they will either reach their destination or not. With analog, the picture
will gradually get worse with each level in quality of cable you go down. With digital, the tendancy is to get a perfect picture or catastrophic failure (it works or it doesn't).





3: It's one cable, compared to 4-5 (depending on how you run the audio).





Do not be fooled by salesmen who will try to sell you expensive HDMI cables. Pay the extra if you need analog cables for anything (it will make a difference there).

So are you saying you plugged your cable box into the HDMI passthrough on the One X?

If the cable box is defaulting to a lower resolution when connected into the Xbox One X's HDMI passthrough, you should be able to adjust the display output in the cable box's settings menu.

 

When cable box goes through xbox one x the picture quality is degraded compared to when it is connected to tv straight. Not really resolution, theres more noise in the picture. Tried switching hdmi cables, inputs. Hopefully it can be corrected via software
update.

 

I have the same problem where when I plug my cable box into the XBOX 1X, the best the cable box will do is 1080p. When it tests for 4k, it fails. When I plug the 1x in with the same cable to the TV, I get 4k @60Hz. I don't think the pass through supports
4k which makes it useless for me. I was thinking maybe there was a setting somewhere but I haven't found it if there is.
