1TB external HDD on Xbox 360 issues

I have a 1tb external HDD, I plugged it into my Xbox and the Xbox 360 won't even see it.

I have formatted into ExFAT and FAT32 and it still won't recognise, and yet the PC has no issues

and there is not trouble shooting in regards to the updated 2tb HDD support for the Xbox 360

    Any ideas?

    :)

    ERROR IO: 0x00000571IO

Need help...already tried XBOX 360 tech support. Cannot download the new WoT update w/o getting the IO: 0x00000571 error.

    1. Called Xbox360 tech support; 2. installed a new 1TB external USB HDD, but get the same error. Is this a known problem, or do you have another thing I might try? I have an XBOX 360 Elite w/120GB internal drive, but just installed an EXTERNAL USB 1TB HDD.

Which type of drive is it? I know that the 360 has issues with some brands of flash drives so perhaps this may be the case with the hard drive as well.

Just in checking other forum posts it seems that others are having issues with Seagate drives. If that is the one you're trying to use see if you can't get a different brand.

Try a different USB port. Some drives are picky. Format the drive using default settings in Windows. Also yeah, Seagate sucks. Don't use that :|

please provide your brand and model. as the posts above have already stated if youre attempting to use a seagate hdd then your issue is that it may not be compatible.

Hitachi HDT721010SLA360 1tb HDD in an external enclosure with its own power source

I have tried the front and rear USB ports on the 360

I have formatted it using windows default settings - Nothing

The Xbox 360 just can't see it, and I have no idea why

what annoys me is that Microsoft have not really given any specs regarding the updated support for these drives, like a recommend option, something which is guaranteed to work

The only thing they could do is create a QVL list but that would be expensive and time consuming considering how many brands and models are out there. They tried it with USB sticks after they added external storage but no one payed attention to it so they
    just took it down.

What file system is the HDD formatted to? FAT has a lot of overhead and takes a while for the file system to mount it properly. If the partition of the FAT drive is large, then it can take up to a full minute after you plug the drive in for the 360 to mount
    it. It just takes time.
