1st gen zune sync problems

I just bought one. My roommate has one and knows how to use it but he can't figure out what's wrong either. After setting everything up and deleting all the old stuff off of it I was trying to put my own music on. It connect to the pc but if I try to
click the "change sync relationship" button is just seems to refresh the page and do nothing. Also I have tried to sync artist with it and it says at the bottom that it is adding it but when I go back to music nothing is there and when I go to the summary
I can't click the "start sync" button. The button is dim and it wont let me do anything. I have uninstalled and reinstallled that software several times, tried it on different pcs, and it won't work on my roommate's pc either where his works just fine.

But at the end, it is the same problem and doesn't matter if you try to change a Zune relationship or a WP relationship.

Hi, I can't figure out where the heck to ask a question. So I'll try here.

I can't seem to get my zune to copy all of my music. I have 60 GB on an external drive at my pc. Zune will only gather about 26 GB. I did notice when I downloaded the software to my laptop, all of the music was converted to the zune icon. This is not the
case with my pc. I even tried to copy the music from the external drive to my desktop music library file. but still no dice. both of the folders on (ext. drive and desktop were inserted in my zune retreival in setup.

Next problem I have is when I set up my account I went to put in my e mail address
[Mod Removed] and zune would not recognize it ,I had to put
[Mod Removed] so I could continue with setup. That said the zune thinks that I am a guest.

I am wondering If I should have done something different? The laptop setup converted everything without me having to do a thing. Do I need to run the 60 gig of music with a conversion program? and what can I do about the e mail problem, I am going to subscribe
to zune mkt place. My laptop OS.is vista and my pc is win 8. Thanks
