    because hdmi on laptops are outputs to hook up to a TV with those type of connectors to use it as a big monitor.

    As davemcfly85, your computer most likely only has an hdmi output which is configured for use to make your computer work on another screen. Someone custom built laptops have a hdmi input for their monitors but most do not.

    You can use a desktop computers monitor as screen for your Xbox.
