190mb update and (possibly) corrupted HDD

I logged into Xbox Live and it asked me to do a 190mb update, when I accepted it showed a message saying that I did not have enough memory. When I check my HDD now, it says it's not formatted for use. I have an 250gb Xbox Slim, and it was fine until today.
Does this mean I lost all my data? If so, I would like to know why.

    :)

Out of nowhere my xbox 360 has stopped unlocking achievements

Try deleting the profile only and clearing the updates on the HDD by going to the HDD then pushing Y. then redownload the profile. Somewhere down the line the profile may of got corrupted by installing a game update, or unlocking a achievement may of corrupted
    the profile.
