1440p@ 120 hz issue xbox series x

Hi I bought an

LG 27GL850 UltraGear
Yesterday, it supports 1440p@144hz however when I select this in my xbox settings it automaticly puts me on 1080p@120 hz saying my device doesnt support this setting. This monitor costs nearly as much as the series x itself. I am very happy with it at 1080p@120
hz but I want to unlock its full potential (for xbox series x 1440p@120hz since it promises 4k@120hz so it should be possible to pick less resolution at same framerate). Anybody knows how to do it?

What resolution are you trying to run at

If 4k 120 Hz then no it won't run at thaf

The max for series s is 1440p at 120hz

It will play at 4k bur only some games and with issues

The series s is meant for 1080p 120 max

With suggested 90hz

The xbox series x and ps5 and switch pro are the only 4k consoles

One x does 4k at 30hz and ps4 pro upscales

I don’t think this is true. I plugged my series x into a gigabyte 1440p 165 hz monitor yesterday after my 4k Samsung qled backlight died. I think HDMI only supports up to 120hz (the monitor cable is required for 165 hz). Going through an HDMI switch, I cannot do 1440p 120 fps, but it has no issue doing 1080p 120hz. After I get an upgraded HDMI switch and a better HDMI cable today, I’ll see if that allows 1440p 120 fps.

1440p 120 Hz but 4k 60hz if you really want 4k

Keep in mind games will drop your resolution if it's too high for their settings

You need series x and hdmi 2.1 for 4k 120hz

It's important to leave vvr on

By the way I might have made a mistake in my question. Obviously the full potential of the monitor is 1440p@144 hz but I am only looking for 1440p@120 hz

I fixxed it by changing my monitor to fps mode and disable freesync premium on the monitor itself. Now I am at 1440p@120hz on xbox series x
