1440 @120hz or 4K HDR @60hz

The game itself also has to be enable from the devs to run at 120 FPS. I don’t know of any AAA games on XOX that are able to run at 1440p 120 FPS.

Since you have a pretty good gaming screen specs-wise (I assure you it's much better than the average screen even PC players use), the only difference that remains between you and PC players is the processing power, and game video settings. On console, there
is a priority to output a 4k image, while mantaining 60fps for most of the gameplay, while PC users can decide to lower their resolution to 1080p and their graphical settings to achieve a smoother gaming experience, with higher
framerates. The most common GPU on the market at the time, the NVIDIA GTX 1060, can easily run this game between 60 and 120 frames per second at 1080p, depending on video quality... assuming there is no CPU bottleneck.

Console version of the game will always run at 4K, regardless of the resolution of the screen you're using, and will never output more than 60 frames per second, so you might as well get the extra visual details and
switch over to 4K resolution output. Besides, no game takes advantage of the 120Hz option at the moment that I know of (Maybe Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege with V-Sync off? I'm not sure).

I've also played regular multiplayer of Call of Duty MW on XB1X and the experience was overall pleasant, despite the huge amount of input lag from my regular cheap TV screen I have my console hooked up to. Framerate output on console was pretty close to
a constant 60fps, so I never I felt like I was being cheated on... compared to when I play the game on my gaming laptop, with 120+ fps. Yet, I achieved the same level of skill on both platforms.

The only disadvantage you should be worried about is playing with a controller instead of mouse and keyboard, imo.

Depends what you are going to do. Movies 60 hz gaming 120hz.

I would prefer the 1440 @ 120 hz soloution.

Freesynch only prefents tearing of the picture.

Honestly, it will vary from game to game. You may see slight adjustments in some games and others you will not. The issue with the 120hz on Xbox is it is not like pc most games have a frame lock at 60 or 30fps meaning that the additional hertz made available
at 120hz will not really be used anyway. This will change with the Xbox Series X as it has the hardware capable of running games at higher frames, but at the end of the day, it is up to the developers if they want to include a frame lock. The one thing I can
say about changing to 1440p at 120hz is that the dashboard on the Xbox feels a lot smoother.
