12 Month Xbox Live Gold Card For Xbox 360. Can I use it with new Xbox One Console?

My son has an Xbox 360. Long story short, his birthday is this weekend and I bought him an Xbox One 1TB and a 12 Month Live Gold Gift Card. I noticed on the fine print of the gift card it only says for 'Xbox 360.' Did I make a mistake or will it work with
the new Xbox One console? I don't want to have a birthday disappointment :-(

If I understand correctly you bought a 65$ Xbox Gift card and tried to purchase Xbox Live Gold with it but it asked for your creditcard instead?

Unfortunately you can't purchase Xbox Live gold using gift card, you'll need to either buy Xbox Live Gold cards which come in 1-3-6-12 months (promotional ones can have an extra month or 2) or you'll need to purchase it using a creditcard.
