Prepaid 12 month Subscription

I redeemed a 12 month card back in November 2017, I believed this would add 12 months to my subscription but instead it created a second subscription. This is the first time this has happened as it usually just adds to the original subscription, is it possible
to merge the subscriptions?

 

Is there any way to upgrade xbox gold membership from a 3 month subscription to a year subscription?

If you're doing the prepaid months, you can always add more prepaid time even while in the middle of a subscription.

Any new time should be appended (or "stacked") onto the last day your current subscription ends.

So yes, if you're currently using your 3-month prepaid time, you could go and buy a 12-month prepaid code right now, redeem it on your account, and it'll be stacked on top of the final day your 3 month subscription expires. Once your 3 month subscription
expires, your account should automatically start using the new 12 months without interruption.
