Why does it seem like over time microsoft makes it a goal to progressively get worse? You use to be able to have a 15 character gamertag and now it can only be 12, what’s the point of this and if it was just fine 3 days ago why can’t they make it possible
now. I changed my gamertag and decided I didn’t want the one i changed to so attempted to change it back to my 15 character one, I contacted customer support and they said I could do so by changing it on an Xbox 360, so I paid the $9.99 and did so, just to
find out it doesn’t change it on my Xbox One account, so I sat on the phone with customer service for another hour just for them to tell me all they can do is offer me a free gamertag change which they said they couldn’t do in the first place and I asked if
they could just refund the one I just paid for since it didn’t get rid of the one I was trying to change and they said they couldn’t refund it, and I ended up without a refund, without a free gamertag change, and without my problem resolved. What does their
customer support even get paid for? Also the Xbox app used to be pretty good but they updated it and it’s absolutely useless now, microsoft rewards isn’t currently working, and you can’t even upload a custom gamerpic from your phone anymore without having
to go through a million obstacles, what are you doing microsoft? I was really excited for the Series X but after all of this I’m wondering if they’re even going to be worth buying if they keep making everything worse.

Since it's over 12 characters, you've changed your classic gamertag, but not you regular gamertag. You'd have to change that one, but it is limited to 12 characters.

Why is the gamertag "Fupand" not allowed? it has no wrong meaning to it.

The 12 character cap is to keep the full limit with the suffix to 15-16 characters.

Why do gamertags only support 12 characters now?

We require at least 3 characters to auto-assign you a suffix and make sure that everybody has an equal chance to have a name they can be proud of. Many older games allowed 16 characters for displaying gamertags.
We’re reserving three of those characters for the suffix and one for the # symbol, leaving 12 characters for gamertags.

It’s because gamertags now get 4 digits after them if they are not unique (thus 12+4 equalling the existing 16 character limit).

It is a shame you can no longer make a unique 13-16 character gamertag, but I can understand it would over-complicate the system (choose a taken 11 char GT and you can have it with numbers, but choose a taken 16 char GT and it will tell you you cannot have
it at all! It’s difficult to explain this in simple terms on the gamertag selection screen, and so much easier for a simple 12 character limit whether unique or not. We’ll just add 4 numbers to the end if it is taken).

Again, if it was possible for the system to accept it 3 days ago then I don’t believe it is impossible to reverse this, it shows both of my usernames on the Xbox One so it is definitely possible, however they claim they are unable to delete the other one
which I don’t believe to be true, if it has plenty of space for a combined of 26 characters because it shows both and i want the one that is 11 characters to be gone, then how does it not have space to only have a 15 character one, when again it was perfectly
fine 3 days ago.
