$115 for 0x80820002

So I picked up my Day 1 Edition Xbox One so many moons ago, along with the much ballyhooed Forza 5. F5 proved to be a big disappointment, so my Xbox One became an expensive Netflix machine. I wasn't too worried, because I knew that must have title was
going to come out eventually, and I would be ready for it. After not purchasing a new game since the system came out, my brother-in-law insisted that I pre-order Destiny. It seems you either love this game or hate it, and we love it. I have an obscene amount
of hours logged on Destiny. Last week, my system began giving me the disc read error 0x80820002. It took about 7 seconds of searching to find this is a common problem, especially on Day One Edition systems. I even found this quote from a Microsoft Representative
in an IGN article: "Rest assured we plan to take care of our customers. Any customer who believes they are experiencing an issue with their Xbox One should reach out to us through Xbox Support." Well, after a pleasant enough chat, troubleshooting my problem
with a Microsoft fixer-upper, I was informed my problem can indeed be resoloved..... for $115. This both amused, and saddened me. I will not be paying $115 for Microsoft to fix an admitted known issue with my system. Destiny will be missed, but my collection
of Uncharted games has been calling my name. Perhaps it's time to see if there really is a difference between Destiny on the One or the PS4. Then again, Disgaea on the Vita is always begging to be fired up again. I will miss you, Microsoft, but I won't
lose any sleep over it.
