    The xbox was supposed to scale the xbox one games up to closer to 3840 than 1080. I can buy a 1080p-4K Blu-ray upscaling player now for $100. It seems like a video upscaler for videos would go hand in hand with the game upscaler. I guess not. Itd probably
    take not very long ( Xbox/Microsoft) have tons of software engineers employeed by them. Use the same team that allowed games to be upscaled to write a paych to allow traditional 1080p Blu-ray films to be upscallee too. Sony doesnt charge for thrir live service,
    xbox dies and its getting more pricy each year. Start to put out finished products, hite the engineers to make the video upscaling happen, as it should have been upon delivery. This wppears to be my last console generation with Xbox- and ive been here on
    live since 2004 and with Xbox since 2001 and the launch.

    4K on xbox one?

    Xbox one Dash Supports 1080/60P Max resolution, so will be upscaled by the display device if it has a higher resolution, from my experience upscaling for video games looks terrible, for video its not so bad if you have a decent bitrate. If you have a 60" 4K TV and a 1080P TV then the 1080P XBOX One image would look better on the 1080P Display, especially gaming wise since a lot of them games are at 720P they would look terrible at 4K upscaled, just take a look at BBC HD's low bit rate feed on sat or terrestrial on sport content it looks terrible on a 1080P display now feed that to a 4K display and your asking for trouble. Now you feed a 4K native image to a 4K or 1080P image and you will see the difference.

    If they enable 4K Video Playback the 4K video will output at 4K/24HZ, and there will be no dashboard overlay unless they would render it at 4K 24 or 30HZ which I think would be doubtful.

    How does the xbox one s know to upscale or input game info to 4k, if the games are not the 4k version?

    Xbox One S has a 1080p output for this game with HDR. You TV upscale input video signal to 4K, if it not a 4K or less.

    The Xbox One will only output at 1080p

    The Xbox One S features 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, 4K video streaming and High Dynamic Range (HDR) for games and video. In addition to supporting 4K video content when used in conjunction with a 4K TV, Xbox One S will also upscale non-4K content
    to display at 4K when paired with a 4K TV. When you set your console resolution to 4K UHD, everything on the console — Home, games, and apps—will display at 4K. 4K content is displayed in its native 4K resolution, and other content (like 1080p content) is
    upscaled to 4K.

    The Xbox One X - 4K content is displayed in its native 4K resolution, and other content (like games encoded for 1080p) is upscaled to 4K

    I wouldn't know about it being "removed", but I've seen a few threads about people questioning about how the Xbox One S has never done this in the first place, ever since the launch of the Xbox One S.

    Regular Blu-Rays are natively 1080p, and people have been reporting that the video output of the Xbox One S simply switches to 1080p, rather than staying 4K and upscaling. However, your 4K TV hardware already upscales video output to take up the whole 4K
    screen anyway, so I wouldn't imagine there being much difference. Please note that upscaling 1080p to 4K doesn't "enhance" the picture definition, it's just stretching the image.

    4k 60 fps

    It is 4k upscaled but not native 4k. The main difference being that the Xbox One S takes a 1080p(or lower) image and upscales the resolution to appear in 4k while the Xbox One X is capable of playing some games directly in 4k resolution. Upscaled 4k is has
    a sharper image that 1080p but is still a little less detailed that native 4k.

    So yes, while you are seeing a 4k image when possible, it is not true 4k.
