101 Ways to Die crashes to Dashboard

Paid for and downloaded 101 Ways to Die.

Start the game.

When I get to the title screen where it says Press A to Start, there is only a short sound and then silence. Nothing happens. When I press A to start, it crashes to dashboard.

Anyone have this problem or know how I can get a refund for a broken game?

I purchased an xbox one s three days ago brand new. I installed skyrim and had no issues playing it. The disk is not damaged and is also new. The game will start for a few seconds on the title screen then return to the dashboard. Ive tried a hard reset,
uninstall and re install, downloaded blu ray player, removed saved data and profile aswell. All i can find help wise on the internet is a hard reset which does nothing.

That sounds super frustrating.

If you're having your game crash back to the dashboard again and again after trying to launch certain games (or any game) a good course of action is to go ahead and try the troubleshooting steps here on our site entitled “My
Xbox One game won’t start or freezes during gameplay”. It should help if your game quits randomly like that or doesn't even launch.

Give the steps outlined in that article a try and let us know how that helped in resolution of your issue.

Hey there!

Sorry to hear about the trouble with the game. Since you started experiencing this issue have you tried a quick power cycle on your Xbox One? To power cycle hold down the power button on the console for 8-10 seconds until it shuts down, then start it back
up and try again.

This is an answer I received that worked for me. I got this one directly from live chat with Microsoft support.

Note... make sure all of your saved games are definitely "in the cloud" before doing this.

make sure all add-ons are installed in the console. My games & Apps > Games > highlight 101 Ways to Die > press Menu > Manage game > install add ons showing on the right side.

(1) Set the console's power options to Instant-on; Settings > All Settings > Power & Startup > Power mode> Instant-on; restart console > try the game.

(2) Delete your profile from the console; this won't result in losing anything, as the saved data is uploaded in the cloud/server. This will only remove any corrupted info saved in the profile in the console; Settings > All Settings > Account > Remove -
Fonceai. Afterwards, hold and press the power button from the console for 10 seconds. Keep it off for a minute, to refresh the system. Then, redownload your profile; press the left button on the controller > Add & manage > Add new; then try the game.
