    [100% FIX] Xbox One Controller Connectivity Problems Windows 10 (post-Anniversary Update)

    Ever since the Anniversary Update for Windows 10 (august 2016) I've had connectivity problems with my Xbox One-controller. It wouldn't work in any of my UWP-games anymore (Forza: Apex, Quantum Break, Halo: Forge) and only worked partially in other
    games on different platforms (GTA V, Rocket League, Deus Ex: Mankind etc.); some of the controls were broken, and couldn't be reassigned/remapped to the controller.

    I've used both the Wireless Dongle and a micro-USB cable to connect my controller to my PC, but both connections suffered from the same problems. To make things worse, the Xbox One Accessory-application couldn't find my Xbox One-controller, so I couldn't
    update the firmware.

    Next to that I tried several drivers (older versions) of the Xbox One-controller and Wireless Dongle hardware, but none of that really made a difference.

    After almost giving up, I decided to give it one last go, and that - my friends - lead to fixing my problems.

    What do you need to do?

    • STEP 0: Download the 'Xbox One Accessories-application' from the store;
    • STEP 1: Make sure your Xbox One-controller is connected to your PC via micro-USB cable (and is 'working' - HOME button lit up);

      STEP 2: Go to 'Control Panel' in Windows 10;
    • STEP 3: Open 'Device Manager';
    • STEP 4: Search for 'Xbox Peripherals' (bottom of the list);
    • STEP 5: Select 'Xbox Gaming Device';
    • STEP 6: While selecting 'Xbox Gaming Device' press the right mouse button to open the context menu, and select 'Update Driver Software';
    • STEP 7: Select 'Browse my computer for driver software';
    • STEP 8: Select 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer';
    • STEP 9: Select 'Xbox Gaming Device Version: 10.0.14393.0 [07-15-2016]', and press 'Next';
    • STEP 10: The driver will now install, and you are prompted to restart the PC. Do so.
    • STEP 11: After restarting the PC, you can now open the Xbox One Accessory Application to update your controller to the newest firmware. Do so.
    • STEP 12: Test, and enjoy! Connecting the controller via the Wireless Dongle will work again as well (no special update needed).
    I think the problem was caused by a driver conflict between the Xbox One-controller and the Wireless Dongle making it hard for Windows 10 to assign proper input/data etc.

    I hope this solution works for you guys. I'm just glad I can use my controller again!

    Greetings,

    Yonix

    :)

  2. Can I use a Blue Tooth Adapter instead of a Xbox Adapter?

    Are you talking about connecting controllers to the PC?

    With a USB bluetooth adapter, you can connect one Xbox One S controller to the computer. Bluetooth connectivity requires your computer to be running Windows 10 (with the Anniversary update).

    How to update your Xbox One Controller on Windows 10

    When you update your Xbox controller, you get the latest controller improvements. You can update your controller wirelessly or via USB.

    For help with update problems, see Troubleshoot update issues with your Xbox One Controller.

    On Windows 10, update your controller by using the Xbox Accessories app:

    1. Get the app from Microsoft Windows 10 by searching for "Xbox Accessories."
    2. Launch the Xbox Accessories app.
    3. Connect your Xbox One Wireless Controller by using a USB cable or the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows.
      Note You'll be prompted to update to Windows 10 Anniversary Edition if you haven't yet done so.
    4. When the controller is connected, you'll see the message “Update Required” if an update is mandatory. Install the update.
      Note You can also go to Device Info to check for updates.
    Notes

    • The Xbox Accessories app is available only on Windows 10.
    • Controllers that don't have a built-in 3.5-mm audio port must be updated using a USB connection and must have the Windows 10 TH2 Update (or later).
    • Updating the controller over Bluetooth is not supported.
    • Bluetooth requires PCs running the Windows 10 Anniversary Update. See Windows Update: FAQ to learn how to get the latest Windows update.
