Discus and support 10% More GPU Power in the Kinectless SKU's in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; I think "What happens to those who bought a Xbone early?" was where you came unstuck...     10% More GPU Power in the Kinectless SKU's


    I think "What happens to those who bought a Xbone early?" was where you came unstuck... Nothing would "happen" other than loss of some of the Kinect's functionality once the Devs redirect the tentative 10% time slice. Nothing in the main box is changing
    hardware wise (at least not yet)... Your speculation was disjointed from not only your earlier comment, but from what others in this thread, and MS had already stated.

    I'm not attacking you... Just a bit confused with some of your comments.

    Others in this, or any other thread, and even MS itself can say one thing, but then do a complete 360. As we ALL know.

    10% time slice? Can you elaborate on what you, MS, Devs, whatever mean by that? And is that what they told us just weeks ago?

    my head hurts.... really... how hard is for people to understand...

    from last NOV when the first XB1 was released to next Christmas... when the 6th million is released.... they will all BE THE SAME EXACT CONSOLE... the only difference is... some of those boxes the consoles are in WILL NOT HAVE A KINECT... Please everyone..

    Now that you understand that.. step 2 in removing the dumb

    The XB1 has "X" amount of power available.... always has.. always will.... some of that power was reserved and was MANDATORY to be placed to the side and not used so the developers can add some sort of kinect features.... this power was ALWAYS THERE....
    NOW the MANDATORY RESERVE was lifted that 10% reserve is now available to the developers...giving them that 10& previously unavailable to the games... to the games...

    Step 3 of clearing the dumb:

    This in NO WAY will hinder,, remove, slow down or effect any other app or use of anything else on the XB1... if a developer uses that 10% extra to use more lighting or effects in a game.... (see step 2, as it was already there for him), it will not make
    your snapping or fast switching "not work" how some people think or believe this to be true is astounding

    XB1 has 3 operating systems....the one for games..... HAS NOTHING to do with the one for the UI

    "Xbox One has a conservative 10 per cent time-sliced reservation on the GPU for system processing. This is used both for the GPGPU processing for Kinect and for the rendering of concurrent system content such as snap mode," Microsoft technical fellow Andrew
    Goossen told us.

    "The current reservation provides strong isolation between the title and the system and simplifies game development - strong isolation means that the system workloads, which are variable, won't perturb the performance of the game rendering. In the future,
    we plan to open up more options to developers to access this GPU reservation time while maintaining full system functionality."

    This was months ago, so it was planned ages ago before the kinectless SKU

    So I Binged "10% time slice" and come up with this.

    But, how did I know back in January 2014 that MS would be dropping the Kinect?

    Ok, I should not have read this post. It is a fine post I just have to slap myself sometimes to make sure I am not dreaming. Wish I was I guess. I have heard this from to many people as well. They seem to think that the new SKU is more powerful somehow.
    One guy said he traded his in at Gamestop towards the newer more powerful system. What? Should have known though. It was obvious when the Wii U was announced/launched it was a new console and from what I have read around there are a decent few who thought/think
    it is just a Wii add-on. Then again so many only believe what they here from the people they follow even if it is not true.

    As for "unlocking" this extra reserved GPU it is easy to see why they needed to do this. Not a bad move at all. But I could honestly not care less about this stuff. I need games is about it. Hopefully some new IP to go with all the sequels to the established
    ones.

  9. Once again........ No functionality is lost. Software improvements have allowed for better management of system resources. Kinect will still function as it does today plus the gpu bandwidth boost. As the console matures better optimization for the system
    will happen.

    By my statement about the Kinect losing some of its functionality... I should have elaborated that it would lose as much functionality as what it could be used for outside of basic voice and gesture commands as it has now... ie. Snapping etc... I just meant
    that you wouldn't use it in game if the Devs direct it's reserved power elsewhere. But that's not really a loss.
