10% More GPU Power in the Kinectless SKU's

I can't believe msft would remove the 10% time slice allocated to the snap, apps and kinect just to get 10% extra power within the time slice. I can see them reducing it to a lower %, but imagine the uproar when snap, Skype and voice commands stop working
during a game because a Dev used up the reserved time slice.

 

All the xboxes will have the same power full stop.

 

@Kingvas that is my own words. But it still holds true. Look at Major Nelsons twitter feed. He addressed the issue. People are confusing the facts here and its really weird considering how many times people have stated what is going on.

People, its not a power upgrade. The power was already there. MS is just allowing devs to use it instead of keeping in reserve for Kinect. If a dev makes a game with no Kinect functionality then theres no need to keep that power in reserve.

Developers can now access 10% GPU power if they decide to NOT make their game compatible with Kinect.

 

It's not rocket science, guys.

I never said there was. What I pointed out WAS that MS had to drop the 10% of X1's dedication for the Kinect in order to free up GPU performance for games.

Is the Kinect-less X1's the same as the "Day One" consoles, minus the text? I've never been inside of one, but I would have to YES. Any more Powerful? -

NO!.

Will the X1's sold in July still be able to utilize the Kinect? - YES!

So what was my point? - Only that in order to FULLY utilize X1's GPU MS had to give up it's dream of Kinect 2 with every X1. But here's the kicker...

PS4's "PlayStation, go home" all you need is a HEADSET.

I think you'll find that most people on here really don't care about what the PS can do, and the people that are bothered have probably already got one.

The consoles will be identical, if the game requires the extra, it will take what it needs I imagine, things like record that should work fine, all you're doing is telling the DVR to record, once the game stops, the kinect will do all it does now, and so
will the kinectless consoles if a kinect is attached, or is that too logical ?

Think about it. If 10% GPU usage one way or the other can't keep up with the demands of devs. Then what will? Maybe this is the answer.

whats wrong with all of you, kinect works outside of the game environment hence snap features and voice control etc. It was also misquoted originally (which you can check) that the 10% time slice (not GPU Power) is reserved for system apps, snap and kinect.

So if a game does not allow these features, who is going to buy it ?

I for one would be mighty annoyed if snap features did not work in a game
