10/1/2014 update hosed my system. Need some help here!

The latest 360 update has some issues, and I was wondering if anyone else has been affected.

For starters, the update downloaded several times, attempted to apply itself (looked successful) and the system rebooted. Upon sign-in it told me there was an update available (the same one, something about the Kinect). So I tried it again. Applied. Reboot.
Rinse. Repeat.

So I dashboard it, clear the system cache, do a network test to grab the update, it downloads and follows the same cycle, only THIS time after the 360 splash screen, it's locking up without loading any avatars. If I power cycle and boot with the DVD drive
open, it will let me load a profile and/or dashboard, but it locks up almost immediately.

I need a little help here before I end up needing a new Xbox AND a new window.

You need to call support. 1-800-4MY-XBOX in North America.

 

Just got the new preview update

Literally just updated my console. Now it has a new "friends tab" and probably some other features. Looks useful.

NO update today AFAIK. Nothing Kinect or console needed in any way.

Is it possible user error is an issue?

Have you contacted Support??? try using the support area of the forum to start with...

 

It's definitely not user error.

It's a 360 Slim (250gb) with a Kinect attached. Everything worked earlier this week. When I powered it up about 5pm this evening it prompted me with an update.

Followed the prompts, just like any other update... only this time it hosed the system.

Have you done a full uninstall and redownload of the update? Here are some steps I've had to follow in the past if I ever had an issue with an update.

1.Go to your Dashboard

2.Go to settings

3.Click on System

4.Click on Storage

5.Highlight the HDD (But do no select it with the A button)

6.Then press in this order LB,RB,X,LB,RB,X (Follow the prompts on screen and the console with reset)

7.After the restart you will need to update the most current update patch
