1 hour inactivity timer is inconsistent

I've had my Xbox One for almost a month now and it's been fantastic, with one complaint, the inactivity timer. I have it set for one hour because time the closest thing to a sleep timer the console has. First of all how hard is it to add a sleep timer.
I bet more than half of xbox users fall asleep while watching something off the system, tv manufacturers caught on, heck even my darn iPhone has a sleep timer, so why doesn't the Xbox. If it's such a glorified entertainment system the. Why would it lack such
a simple feature. Ok that's the end of my rant. So I fall asleep while watching Netflix almost every night, mainly because I can't watch anything off my external hardrive, which the 360 could do. Some mornings when I wake up it seems the inactivity timer has
worked and the console is off. Other mornings, like my past 3 mornings, it has remained on consuming completely unneccessary electricity and slowly draining life from the console itself. My question is why? Why does it SOMETIMES work, I have no idea, I thought
that the Kinect sensor might have been picking up movements from my cat on nights he's in my bed, but that's not the case. I thought it may have been whether or not I manually turned off the controller or let it auto shut-off. But that's not it! My only theory
left is that the Netflix App is inconsistent and sometimes streams one episode right after another and some nights it'll stop after one episode. But if that's the case than I have no idea what's causing it and how to change that. so wtf!!! This isn't a huge
problem but it bugs the ever lovin' sh** outta me!!! I even remember when I got excited that the 360 would have a sleep timer and guess what, 9 years later and still no G.D. sleep timer. Any thoughts guys on why this timer/Netflix app is inconsistent?

Yeah, this was probably a stupid question.

I think I checked and the only options I saw were 1 hour inactivity and 6 hours..weird how those were the only two options I saw. I don't like either of those

 

Sleep Timer

Yes, the issue is that even if you set it to shut down after 1 hour of inactivity, the Xbox recognizes the open TV app as a running program so even though the TV is off with a sleep timer that app is open and Xbox recognizes that open app as activity so
it will stay on for days and days regardless of what settings you have on your Xbox. Very frustrating!!! If the TV is off that is inactivity right??? With Xbox, no!!! I don't care what your doing, if the TV is off that is inactivity. Thus why I say add a
sleep timer setting or change what Xbox views as inactivity.

 

turn your kinect off that fixed my xbox from doing that

 

As drunk says, turn off Kinect or im thinking covering up the camera would accomplish the same.

 

It's your Kinect.

If your Kinect sees you in your room it resets the inactivity timer.

I've noticed this whenever I re enter the room. The screen normally dims due to inactivity but if I suddenly walk in view of the Kinect the screen goes normal again.

So if you want to watch Netflix before sleeping it's best to turn off Kinect first.
