Question about this whole Cable/Satellite thing....

You still need a Satelite decoder. the Xbox one apparently acts as a through box for the decoded signal. Also the box they were selling your was a signal sender box and receiver not actually a proper box as such by the sound of it. You can in theory split
the signal from a dish if as I'm guessing it using standard coaxial cable, you would have to split the encoded signal and send that to your box in your room where it decodes the signal separately. The problem is this can mess with the signal strength so you
might find the picture quality not as good or to have issues sometimes.

    Lack of HDMI Ports

    There is a way.

You could use an HDMI Splitter (like this one
    http://amzn.to/1jSdFTL
) to split the Signal from your cable box. You'd have two separate outputs with the same signal from your cable box, one would go to the tv and one to the xbox.

    Hope this helps.

Question about this whole Cable/Satellite thing....

I've never heard of needing another dish for another box. Must dishes have several outputs that run upto 5 boxes with dvr needing to inputs instead of one. The only way you all have to watch the same thing is if your splitting the cable out of the box into
several tvs. Each box decodes the signal separate from the others so you problem isnt really a problem. If the cable is split before entering a box that box decodes if its split after the box the signals been decoded and plays on however many tvs its plugged
    into.

    hdmi splitter/cable box/TV/Xbox One

I just tried something similar. Because the XBOX Ones TV interface is not as good as the Comcast Cable Box's I wanted to buy a splitter and run the cable box to the splitter and then split the signal - one directly to the TV HDMI 1 and another to the XBOX
one and then into the TVs HDMI 2. I wanted to be able to use the XBOX One TV while playing XBOX and then just use my Cable Box when not using the XBOX. It did not work. I received an error message that stated my cable signal was being compromised. I also could
not get a TV signal to my XBOX One. I was told that I may need a splitter with a switch. I was hoping to avoid that. I didnt want to have to switch each time but if I have to I will.....Anyone out there have any suggestions or similar experiences?

Turn on Console then have to change channel on cable box for console to see signal.

Your splitting the cable source to your box and xbox?

It's probably laggy. And it only responds when a change is done on the box. I.E. Changing channel.

When you change the channel it reacts by sending the signal to which every source initiated it. I have a 4 port splitter that did that.
