I have been trying for the last week to get my Sony XF9000 to work with my Xbox one X and allow Dolby Atmos. I have read a number of other threads and followed the advice, including the ones where you override the Display in Video fidelity & overscan, then
select the Dolby Atmos setting and then reset. I have not had any luck following these tips as I have tried this multiple times with different variations. On restart, after setting Dolby Atmos, I get the loud start up boom on my xbox, but once it has fully
    started, I have no sound.

    My precise setup is

Samsung Qe55q85r (TV) - I have set my dolby atmos compatibility to on and Anynet+ to on

Sony XF9000 - I have set my HDMI signal format to expert

    Xbox One X

I currently have HDMI setup as follows

Xbox One (Out to TV) connected to HDMI 1 on TV

Xbox One (In from Sat/Cable) connected to HDMI In on XF9000

XF9000 (HDMI Out Earc/Arc) connected to HDMI 2 (Earc) on TV

I have tried a variety of HDMI cables, initially I used the Xbox one X cable to connect to the TV and 2 newly purchased cables with 18Gbps.

I suspected a might have a faulty cable, so replaced with a different brand and tried different combinations.

My current set up is using 3 cables rated 8k 48Gbps (which I realise is overkill, but I wanted to be sure).

The final thing worth mentioning, although I don't think it's relevant, is on the XF9000, if I select HDMI in the watch section the message says "There is no HDMI input signal"

I ask for help from someone who has specific help with this setup, as I have tried help from people with similar setups, but it hasn't worked.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help

    :)

    Yes, the 0x80bd0009 error Code was displayed after a update but there was a Workaround: "Press Menu Button, Settings, Display & Sound, ensure HDTV is "select," not "auto." This relaunched the display in 480p, which you easily could change back to 1080p;
but the key is that this reset also audio output options. You could now select HDMI audio for 5.1 and DTS and ..., which you couldn't before."

    Did you tried this workaround?

You can also check instead of a second HDMI cable an audio cable!!!!

    1. Leave the HDMI cable connected to your TV for video.
    2. Connect one end of the digital audio cable to the S/PDIF (optical audio) port on the console.
    3. Connect the other end of the digital audio cable to the digital audio input port on your Receiver.

    Hi,

    thanks for the detailed response.

I didn't mention, but yes I have the Dolby Atmos app installed, whilst you follow the instructions for setup, the first section asks you to enter the audio setup, set the HDMI audio to "bitstream out" and the Bitstream format to "Dolby Atmos", it's upon
selecting this last option that causes the error 0x80bd0009. I did some research and this appears to be a common problem, various people had suggested workarounds that worked for them, but I have tried all the workarounds with no success.

With reference to the last part, I have been trying to set it up at 60hz and the 8 bit option.

    Hi Jon81D,

sorry to hear and sorry I only use "Dolby Atmos for Headsets", wich is not for free.

Because you write a lot about the Setup, but nothing about the app: Did you read "Dolby Atmos for home theater can be experienced for free through your Dolby Atmos supported home theater system, sound bar, or TV.
To enable on your Xbox One, install and open the Dolby Accessapp, and follow the instructions
    provided
    "? Please also read
    "Audio Output"
    and try
"Troubleshoot sound on your Xbox One console"
    .

But if your console is a part of the Preview/Insider programm: "Users who have
Dolby Atmos enabled and console display settings set to 120hz with 36 bits per pixel (12-bit) are experiencing loss of
Dolby Atmos audio in some situations. Workaround : Disable 120hz or set Video Fidelity to 30 bits per pixel (10-bit) or lower."

Hope this helps and please keep us informed

    Sound since last update

try to update the controller it is seperate from a system update and make sure you check your audio settings, maybe try this https://windowsreport.com/xbox-error-0x80bd0009-dolby-atmos/ or https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/xbox/forum/all/xbox-1-error-code-0x80bd0009/2a90e68d-6901-45b6-9da4-d56f0b49d7de
