    Hello, issue that has been reported for some time in perusing the forums.

    Possible fix is below, however that only partially worked for me.

    4k TV, Atmos soundbar, Xbox One X.

    This looks like it has been giing on for years and not fixed.

    If i manually select 1080p, yes i can choose Atmos, but not enable 4k or any other option. (this has since changed, I am able to choose the other options manually. However, I am not able to choose 4k UHD at 30hz, so it is stuck at 60hz or offers 120hz
    when selecting 1440p, which then allows 4k UHD to be selected, and that is not possible, therefore leaving me almost there, but not quite.

    I request this to be fixed along with countless other posts.

    Please enact a patch that will set this straight.

    "Hello, i had the same problem with my HDMI home-theater, i couldn't get HDMI sound passtrough 5.1 (error 0x80bd0009) probably due to 4K resolution. I found a solution so i hope it could help you, it just need to be configured first in manual 1080P, it's
    just a bug of the autodetect resolution mode that almost never works for passthrough sound even in 1080p now. First you need to switch in display and sound TV connection from Auto-detect to HDMI. Then you'll have a poor resolution. You'll have to switch to
    1080P and then accept all the options available in advanced video options and on the right for games and apps, don't forget to select : Allow 4k. When you'll have done this you'll need to go in audio output and select under speaker audio HDMI audio and 5.1
    passthrough (or 7.1 depending on your home-cinema). Here you shouldn't get the error code (0x80bd0009). Then you'll just need to get back to Display and sound and go back to Display Auto-detect and then go back to 4k resolution. It worked for me as i was getting
    the same error for month, after xbox upgrade, while at first it worked perfectly with the same material. Hope this will help you! Bye."

    If i select 4K, it then gives an error.

    As this error is all over the forums.

    Please understand my frustrations.

    Atmos and 4k work with everything else.

    I can walk through and screen shot every step.

    I dont feel i should have to.

    It should just work.

    I would be fine using the "manual" settings if they worked.

    I have not seen someone say, with this "fix", that has used it tt fix Atmos.

    I can select 5.1 (the default of thos broken piece) or 7.1.

    But get the error when selecting Atmos

    Also, the TV does support4k at 60hz

    My HDMI cables are great as well.

    Atmos and 4k work with them for other items.

    When using the Auto setting, i get all green checks on the 4k details.

    However, this what I see when i go to 4k details after getting the 4k at 60hz error screenshotted above.

    Same, I can only get atmos with 1080p

    When I switch to 4K, audio goes to dolby digital

    Is there a fix yet?

    Thank you for providing that update. I understand now your setup and the issue being experienced and I fully understand your frustrations due to this issue. I'm a gamer myself and know it's frustrating to not get the full potential from the console due to
    a bug. I've looked around and I have seen other's have similar issues trying to use the Xbox One X with Dolby Atmos audio and 4K video at the same time through HDMI. I have also seen that the Xbox Insider program is working on fixing any audio issues that
    have been reported.

    By any chance is your Xbox enrolled in the Xbox Insider program? Even if it's not, I recommend

    reporting the problem through the Xbox Insider Hub app
    . You just need to have the app installed, hold the Xbox button to bring up the power menu and select Report a problem to report it directly to the Insider team.

    Hi there,

    Thank you for coming to the forums, I'd be happy to help.

    I'm having trouble understanding what set up you are trying to achieve that you can't get using the solution you quoted. You can't manually select 30 Hz as a refresh rate option on the Xbox One X, only 60 Hz at 4K or 120 Hz at 1080p.

    Can you still not select Dolby Atmos as your speaker output with 4K selected after following the solution you posted? What is the new error that you come across when trying to select 4K UHD with Dolby Atmos already set as your speaker option?

    Let us know and we'll see where to go from there.
