    In my case, the payment instrument has *not* been removed from my current membership. The card is shown under my billing info and is active. Yet I am still getting this error when I try to redeem a prepaid code. Any ideas? I have about two months left but
    would really like to just enter the code I have rather than have to hang onto it until then. (I bought it early because of shopping deals this time of year.)

    I have no idea how to make a thread so I was wandering if one of you guys could help me out, you see I've had issues with trying to redeem a 3 month membership it comes up with an error code I've looked everywhere for a solution and cant find one. I cant
    even get in touch with Microsoft support either I'm on xbox pretty much 24:7 so if anyone has a solution to help me out I'd much appreciate it if you can get in touch with me.

    Hey there KSI MIDNIGHT V2,

    I have a couple questions to ask to see if we can get things sorted.

    1. What is the error code that pops up?
    2. Where are you trying to redeem your 3-Month Membership? Are you trying to redeem it on your Xbox 360 console or on xbox.com?

    Did you purchase your current membership from the console or website? If so then you'll need to wait until it runs out before you can add the prepaid membership. The two different types seem to be interfering with each other.

    It appears that you do have Xbox LIVE Gold. It says so on your forum card and on your profile. If you are having issues, can you please create your own thread and detail as much information as possible.

    Thanks Cloud, I just had an email from 3rd line, confirming what you said too.

    I only had 1 month before my live membership ran out, they cancelled it and sent me a 1 month code.

    That worked and then the 12+1 code worked.

    All sorted now :)

    It's strange that the credit card i removed from my account during this 12 months membership expired in 2010 and it still caused this problem.

    According to the error code page for that code, the solution is as follows:



    Because the payment instrument has been removed from your current membership, you will not be able to add a prepaid code or token for a membership while your current membership is still active. You must wait until your current membership has ended to
    redeem the token. Membership tokens do not expire. To find out when your membership will end,
    sign in to your Xbox account and tap or click
    Subscriptions to view the end dates for your current memberships and subscriptions.




    In short, you have to wait for your current membership to expire before you can use the code.
