I got the kids a Christmas present of an xbox one s and tried setting it up. It went through the setup process and is stuck at the updating stage. I cannot go past this stage.

It displays error code: 0x80072f8f-0x00000000 0x00000200

Any advice gratefully received.

Hey, I'm having sort of the same issue. Accept mine says Error Code 0x8b05000f. I haven't been able to access my Xbox one S in about 4 days. I need some help as well.

Hello Lipjam,

Sorry for the issues with the error connecting to Xbox live. Lets clear the alt mac address go to settings>network>network settings> adv. settings>alt mac address clear and restart. If there is an issue in your country with Xbox live services this will affect
it.

Mine said that my Error Code did not exist, even though I was staring right at it. I just want to play my Xbox dang it!

OK I manged to solve this one. This is what I did:

I switched off the wifi on my mobile phone so it was only using 4G. I then created a wi-fi hotspot on my phone and connected the xbox to this wifi (Using 4G for Internet).

I ran the update and it successfully got past this update stage, completed the setup and signed into xbox Live.

I then connected my xbox back to my router's wifi and restarted the xbox. This time I got a message saying the language setting were incorrect and needed to be restored. When I clicked continue it tried to run the update but this time it came back with
a similar error but ending in 0x80072f8f-0x00000000 0x00000D00 instead of 0x80072f8f-0x00000000 0x00000200.

I connected it again to the 4G and it tried to run the update which ran but came up with a message:

"OH that's Awkward there is no update."

So this seems to be caused by Microsoft advertising an update that does not exist? I compared the two connections to see what was different and the one thing I spotted was with UPnP port forwarding.

On the router the xbox created a port forwarding rule via UPnP for port 3074 UDP. On the 4G connection it could not create this rule and so this seems to be a workaround.

If you do not have a 4G connection or your data allowance is low try disabling UPnP port forwarding on your router which should allow you to sign onto Xbox Live.
