0x80070424 - MSFS 2020 & Digital Ownership

Hi.

I upgraded my computer (motherboard, cpu and memory) and all of my games still working well (actually, better now), except MSFS 2020.

MSFS 2020 showed 0x80070424 error when I try to open it.

I decided to uninstall and reinstall MSFS 2020, and the error code apears when I try to download MSFS2020 from Microsoft Store/Xbox app.

I´ve tried wsreset.exe... reinstall xbox app... stopped my antivirus app... updated my windows with everything posible... Nothing is working.

Now I´m stucked at "Digital Ownership" 0x80070424 error. I noticed that a huge quantity of similar problems reported at web. They guide you on different solutions, but until now, nothing fixed the problem.

The error should indicate what is going on... This IS VERY frustrating...

Is there any ideas about that?

You´re right... After reinstalling Windows and the game, everything turn into a normal pace.

Hello Carlos Xavier Junior,

Researched the error code and it seems to be a Windows update error. Did you reinstall Windows after upgrading your device components? It may be missing some critical elements that are mentioned in thread number 1 below. Don't want to make this post extremely long, but here are hyperlinked threads that have some troubleshooting steps in them related to the error code:

1. The top answer from Kim in this thread was Marked as Answered, meaning the troubleshooting provided helped to solve the issue for OP.

2. This thread is in Microsoft Docs questions and JennyFeng has an answer where some users were able to resolve their issues with this error code.

I seem to have fixed my version of this issue whilst checking the Xbox app, on the MSFS page I saw that digital ownership has been uninstalled for some reason, Installed digital ownership and boom, MSFS is launching normally again without having to do the dumb wifi off work around.

When I click on the product name in the order it opens a page showing "Install to". Will that install without a key?

I've now discovered a digital ownership app within the purchase but without any clear instructions as to how it all hangs together. Do I simply reinstall MSFS & then install the digital ownership to get it activated?
