0x8007005 when trying to install several games

    0x8007005 when trying to install several games


    Windows 10 Pro 20H2, upgraded just in Friday,

    XBOX App 2019.1001.15.0

    I was able to install and play several games, for instance Gears 5 Ultimate Edition and Dishonored 2.

    When trying to install other games I get error 0x8007005

    Examples: Bridge Contructor Portal, Gears 4, Disneyland Adventures. Rush: A Disney Pixar Adventure

    In the eventlog i see

    The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID

    {37399C92-DC3F-4B55-AE5B-811EE82398AD}

    and APPID

    {37399C92-DC3F-4B55-AE5B-811EE82398AD}

    to the user DESKTOP-ERIS23\xyz SID (S-1-5-21-(deleted for posting)) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Microsoft.GamingApp_2010.1001.15.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe SID (S-1-15-2-1723189366-2159580849-2248400763-1481059666-1951766778-2756563051-3565589001).
    This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

    I did a sfc /scannow, repaired, reset, uninstalled andreinstalled the XBOX app.

    My user is administrator. My PC Game Pass subscription is valid until 2023.

    Thanks for your reply

    I have updated everything and got the latest Xbox app.

    Now when I try to install, it begins to download (several GB) then eventually gives me the following error message before it completes:

    'Something unexpected happened. Reporting this problem will help us understand it better ...etc' ' error code 0x8007005

    There is plenty of spare capacity on the drive that I am installing to and I have a 350 mb/s internet connection.

    It shouldn't be this hard to install a £50 game. What should I try next?

    May I know if the games on the H: drive are being installed on the XboxGames or WindowsApps folder?

    Hi Lucas, thanks for getting back to me.

    I tried accessing the app settings menu in the settings app, however Sea of thieves is not listed at all. attempting to access it by right clicking the app in the start menu and choosing app settings results in the settings app loading and then immediately crashing and closing out with no error message. Other apps work fine when attempting either method of accessing the app settings menu. I also tried to do the move through the xbox app by clicking the menu button beside the game and choosing manage, other games have a button that says change drive, and this works fine on other games. Sea of thieves however says "This game does not support advanced installation and management features" and does not give the option to move the install.
