(0x00000001) error or nothing from Xbox Game Pass on PC games only

In short, a rogue file was located on my c drive, simple entitled program, which was stopping the gaming services from running and updating.

However, I was still forced to use the Microsoft Store app as the Xbox app kept getting stuck on 2%.

After using the Microsoft Store I was able to install and launch a game pass game.

I've already tried checking for updates, removing the gaming services registry and repairing it with no luck.

I am a little hesitant to use the said creative application as my understanding is it is used for preparing your machine for Windows 10 and would ultimately result in lost settings / other application issues through what sounds essentially like reinstalling the OS.

Is there a certain point I can exit the install once any potential issues are resolved?

I find it odd that my problem only affects game pass games.

The problem only happens with game pass games because they use Gaming Services, usually, the problem is solved by deleting the files in REGEDIT, and then repairing the gaming services application, when this is not solved it is necessary to use the creation tool from Microsoft windows.

At the moment these are the solutions that solve this problem, most of the time the windows creation tool will solve the problem, as it does the system reinstallation, so the problem is solved for certain people, and others not, and when the problem is not resolved it is necessary to do a clean install of Windows 10 or 11 if you prefer.

Anyway, I suggest you try the solutions below, please.

First make sure you are using the latest version of windows, to do this follow the instructions below.

Select the Start button and then go to Settings > Update and Security > Windows Update.

- If there are no updates to be made, please proceed with the solutions below.

Solution 1:

Open RegEdit as an administrator and delete the following Services:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\GamingServices]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\GamingServicesNet]

PC reboot

Install gaming service like you would normally

Solution 2:

Go to Windows settings

Applications

Applications and Features

Look for Gaming Services

Click on it

Advanced options

Tap repair

- If it doesn't work, try the alternative below.

Download the Create Windows 10 installation media application from the link below, at the end of the download run the application, and then follow the instructions given by the program at the end click on upgrade. Rest assured none of your files will be lost, this is a system restore that will try to fix this error.
