0.5 mbps internet needed to run xbox one

I purchased a new xbox one an I am unable to use it. I called support and they said my internet speed was to slow I have a 0.35 and I need 0.50 to run the programs they have on there. He also said xbox one is a computer.

So my question is why can't I remove some of the programs I wouldn't use such a TV. Video and others, it would allow me to keep me xbox one. There are a lot of people that live in the country and don't have high speed internet, this is all I have.

I love playing xbox I also have a 360 and have no problems with it. Vickie

Internet speed drop when x1 is on

Hi, my internet is about 5.5 Mbps, but when I switch the Xbox one on, it drops to a useless 0.5 Mbps. I am not very technically minded and have no idea what to to! Any friendlies out there who can help?

Any ideas? I usually get 5 to 10 Mbps download on a PC speedtest, but consistently 0.5 to 1 Mbps on the Xbox One speedtest. Makes no sense at all.

Removing the programs you don't use would have no affect on the connection to your Internet since they would not be actively running unless you turn them on.

Okay so i took my xbox to a mates place and using his internet everything started working fine. I noticed the issue was in the upload part of my xbox. When at his the detailed network stats showed an upload number of 0.5 mbps and had a MTU number. However
on my internet these numbers are not there at all, not even a 0. So im pretty sure this is the issue since it worked fine at his place.

@ Pyrite I connected a network cable from my router to my Xbox One and it made no difference.

I've managed to increase my download speed to over 2 Mbps by lowering the SNR on my router but my upload speed remains limited to 0.5 Mbps.

I've changed my MTU to 1458 too as this is the recommended MTU for my ISP.

Is there anything I can do on my Xbox One that might solve my problems?
