On your question, unfortunately, it is not possible to use the Switch controller natively in the Xbox app on the PC, at the moment the app only supports official Microsoft controls. However there are third-party programs that allow the emulation of various controls for the application, I recommend that you do research on these programs.

Can you try going to the Minecraft and Xbox application and clearing the cache of these applications.

If there is any corrupt information this should wipe it out and allow you to resign in with clean data.

Go to Settings, Apps, and then to the program, click on Advanced options, and then select reset.

This started happening after I updated my Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 last night. I have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the Microsoft Solitaire Collection

8 gigs sounds like an awful lot of rouge programs running silently in the background collecting data on what you do on your phone...hrmmm

Nothing bad, it's a program that collects data, which is usually for the Kinect to help improve its ability to work with facial/voice recognition.
