Remote Play sessions cannot be force-terminated remotely.

The controller is connected directly before I start the remote play session. The controller problems happen throughout the remote play session. Thank you for your reply!

I have the same issue. I have a Samsung TV and it was recommended (as a quick 'fix') to hold the power button down on the TV remote forcing a 'reboot' of the TV. That works but must be done almost every time I start a new Xbox session.

I have a an Xbox series X.

I can use remote play on my iphone fine the first time I connect remotely, games play no problem over mobile internet, I have a dedicated controlller set up for remote play

But when I have finished that session and disconnect, the next time I try to connect it says it cannot connect. Only a hard reset will allow reconnection after that.

I tried this once when someone was at home and I was remote and a hard reset allowed me to reconnect straight away, but it then reverted back to not reconnecting.

I am wondering if it’s the way i am disconnecting that might be the issue or something.

Currently I exit game to Home Screen, hold down xbox button on controller and then select turn off console, should just revert console to should mode? Not sure how else I should disconnect or how I can reset the console remotely.

Thank you for posting on the Xbox Communities Forum. Remote Play cannot be launched by searching for a game on the Xbox app, you must add your console to the app, then launch a remote session. From there, you'll be shown your Xbox's screen and can play your console games that way.

Open the Xbox app for PC.
Click on your profile picture and select View profile.
Under Where I play, select the Add a console option and follow the steps shown.

Yes, the new Xbox app allows you to start a remote play session if you already have your Xbox One configured.

You can start a remote play session by clicking on the little Xbox icon (consoles) that's next to the notifications icon.
Once you click on the “consoles” icon, you will be able to select your Xbox and start playing remotely.

In case you don't see the console after clicking on the icon, please follow these steps:

“Open the Xbox app for PC.
Click on your profile picture and select View profile.
Under Where I play, select the Add a console option and follow the steps shown.”
