Controller problems with Xbox Series X

Hi all, I hope you are well.

Got a big pain of a problem here,

I bought an Xbox Series X in the UK, second-hand in B+ condition; advert states full working condition etc.

The controller works completely fine with the Xbox Series S I have, the only reason why I replaced was because the HDMI on the S is starting to perish. However, it does not want to sync correctly and stay connected with the Xbox Series X, I have tried the below to fix it - my Xbox Series S is disconnected and off:

• Put WI-FI on other side of room, and move any other devices, changed power cord, changed HDMI.
• Completely unpair the controller for the X and resync them, power cycle both system and controller.
• Reset the controller and reconnect.
• Hardware reset of the system.
• Checked updates for system and controller (none available).
• Waited until outages were gone to then try again, no luck.
• Made sure nothing was in front of it blocking any connection.

This is on an endless loop of desync, then resync staying on for 15 seconds sometimes and then other times looping constantly. The only time the controller does work is when it is connected via USB.

I know because the controller is working the S, I can sort of rule out that it is not coming from the controller. If there is nothing else I can do, I will just send it back which is a shame because I was really looking forward to the upgrade!
