    XBox One HDMI Audio settings are confusing


    I have an Xbox One and a Yamaha RX-A Atmos/DTS:X capable receiver. I use the console primarily as a streamer now that the kids no longer use it.
    When I select the HDMI audio output, I can choose DTS:X or Atmos. I also have Passthrough engaged.

    When I attempt to play a DTS:X file on Plex, the receiver stays on Atmos. I have to go into the settings each time and choose the format the file is in.

    Should Passthrough not allow auto switching of the output based on the source? Play an Atmos file, get Atmos on the receiver; play a DTS:X file, and get DTS:X on the receiver.

    Connection: Xbox One > Yamaha> Display

    hi, not sure if i can help, but ill try,

    if you have chromecast connected and working leave it so,

    connect tivo to xbox one via hdmi and use the one guide to set up and use an optic cable from xbox to surround system, go in to settings and audio settings, and set output to optic cable. you shouldnt need to connect the audio from the surround to tv (thats
    the part thats confusing me)

    XBox One w/ Receiver Setup

    My set up will be:

    Cable Box HDMI out to Xbox One HDMI IN, Xbox One HDMI out to Receiver HDMI In, Receiver HDMI out to TV HDMI in, Receiver Audio out to Speakers

    So the Cable audio/video goes to the Xbox One, Xbox One send that and/or it's audio/video to the Receiver, Receiver sends video to TV and audio to Speakers

    It seems like that's what you're describing, so I'm not sure why you think audio is being left out anywhere.

    First, could you confirm that you plugged your Xbox One to your audio receiver using an HDMI cable ?

    Then, could you please go to the Sound settings of your Xbox One and select "5.1 Uncompessed" or "Stereo Uncompressed" in HDMI Audio by following this article :
