If you are 17 and have parental restrictions on your account the parental account will need to remove those restrictions in order to allow you to purchase the content.

After you turn 18 you'll be able to promote your account to adult to remove the purchasing restrictions and no longer require a parental account.

Same issue here as well. I am no longer able to purchase age restricted content of any form. On the web, My Xbox one and the windows 10 store I get the same message of

Ask an adult to change your settings

To buy this, an adult needs to change your family settings at account.microsoft.com/family.

We have set up a family but I am the only adult account. I have tried removing all restrictions from the children in the family group but this has changed nothing.

Any suggestions?

It let me put MSP into my accout using the fake adult account, but when using Yahoo, it didn't let me login. Is there a way to remove the parental fake account and put mine as an adult? I am hoping I don't have problems like this in the future, so that is
why I'm asking this now.

One more, do I put "find parent account" option? Because it does not say an "Online safety" option for me in my settings, so am I really in control of a parental account?

Parental.sertings are controled by your parental.accoint not your home console

They will have to sign in on outlook or your xbox to make the changes

To use custom gamer pic you need to be an adult account no parental setting can change this

I already tried by signing in to the parent account and removing all restrictions on this account, and it didn't work. But I DID fix it. I did it by reverting the privacy settings back to child and then resetting them to adult about 5 times and ONLY then
did the xbox live restriction say it was in effect so I could turn it off from the parent account (prior to that it said that there was no restriction in place under the parental settings).

Tl;dr: Tried turning it off and on again. Worked on the fifth time.
