  1. Help, I'm having problems with my Microsoft account.


    I lost my Microsoft account. I still don't know if it was Microsoft's fault or mine. I don't have any photos or screenshots to back me up, but when I tried to log in, I got an error message saying that the account didn't exist. I was really worried when that happened, but then I created another account because I couldn't remember the password for the old one. But today, I'm still being charged for XBOX Game Pass, and I need someone from Microsoft to help me. The thing is, I only have screenshots of my XBOX account name and nothing else, and I created my current account with the Gmail address from the lost account.

    Well, that’s really odd. Usually the fixes above fix the problem. As that’s not your case I can suggest you other things:

    1. Can be bit odd but:
    Press Windows button and type Services

    On Services App from the list of results, press right-click and run it as administrator

    Scroll to the bottom and find the following services:

    IP Helper
    Xbox Live Auth Manager
    Xbox Live Game Save
    Xbox Live Networking Service
    Gaming Services

    And do this with each of the services listed above:

    Right-click over the service and select Properties.
    Find the Startup type section and make sure it’s set to Automatic (if not, change it to automatic)
    If the service isn’t started, click Start to start the services

    Restart your PC and try again

    2. Try uninstalling the most recent windows update, just in case it is the one that is causing conflicts

    Hi and thanks for reaching Microsoft Xbox gamer's community. My name is Josef.

    I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft Xbox user like you.

    May I know if you tried adding the desired account via Windows settings > accounts > email & accounts > under Accounts used by other apps

    After that try switching accounts to see if you're able to finally use the desired one

    If yes and if maybe that doesn't work please try and double check this:

    Open Settings, click Update and Security and then Windows Update

    Click Check for Updates

    Click the Download and Install Now option, if available (Install optional updates as well)

    Also, check the Microsoft Store for any updates on the Xbox apps and its services and update everything too. (Click on get updates)

    Now, sign out from your account on both Xbox app and Microsoft Store and do this:

    Go to windows settings > apps > search for gaming services app > click on it and select advanced options.

    After that, click repair and then reset

    Then do the same for the Xbox app:

    Go to windows settings > apps > search for Xbox app > click on it and select advanced options.

    After that, click repair and then reset

    Finally do this:

    Step 1: Open the Run window by pressing Windows + R key.

    Step 2: Input WSReset.exe in the Run window and click OK.

    Step 3: Then a command prompt window will appear. After a few seconds, Windows Store will open.

    Now try to sign in again on both Microsoft store and Xbox app with the desired account

    Sadly doesn't fix anything. Whenever I login with a Microsoft account it always asks If I want to use that account everywhere on the device but I can't press yes or no. Only Next or Only on Microsoft apps which still doesn't work.

    But whenever I've added that account I can't switch accounts / logout and in again which is the most strange part cause the login window just popsup and closes directly after. That is the main issue.

    Hi John, could be just a bug.

    Or try this (RainingRoses response):

    "Try the following options for Windows 10/11:
    1. Go to Credential Manager (https://support.microsoft.com/windows/accessing...) > Windows Credentials (not the Web option), select XblGrts|DeviceKey and remove.

    2. Go to Settings > Accounts > Email & accounts. Select your account with the issue and verify that the ‘Apps need to ask me to use this account’ setting is enabled. This would especially help if you have multiple accounts as you would have the option to choose the correct account on startup, but you can always change it back to the automatic option if you prefer. You can also try to remove the account from here and re-add it later.

    3. Follow this file path: C:\Users\[Your Username]AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.XboxIdentityProvider_cw5n1h2txyewy\AC\TokenBroker
    Delete the Accounts and Cache folders, which will be deleted from the Xbox Identity Provider

    Note that the highlighted code in this file path depends on your system so may vary.
    If you don’t see a particular folder, then confirm there’s no search filters applied and select ‘show hidden items’, or you can just search for the folder in the search bar.
    Restart your PC after trying the above steps, so that these properly take effect next time you sign in. It may also help to then reset and repair and/or uninstall and reinstall the Xbox apps where this error occurs."

    If that doesn't work do this:
    Press Windows + X, then click on Windows Powershell (Administrator)

    Then type or copy/paste this command and press enter:

    Get-appxpackage Microsoft.XboxIdentityProvider | Remove-AppxPackage

    Restart your PC and install the recently deleted app:

    Finally go to Windows Settings > Apps and Features > Xbox app > Reset and Repair, then restart your PC and give it a new try.
