    My Xbox is producing plastic fumes and overheating


    I got my Xbox Series X about two and a half years ago, (23/12/2023) and so the warranty has expired, but I recently started smelling a burning plastic smell, and the area where the fan is is overheating. I've been playing Need For Speed Unbound on all of the normal settings (as far as I can tell) for most of this time.

    I've already blown air through the fan, and there doesn't seem to be any warping.

    Is there a way to diagnose and hopefully fix this issue without having to buy a new console?

    I'm sorry you're experiencing these issues.

    Everything seems to indicate that your console has a hardware issue. If you're not under warranty, you can send it to the Microsoft repair center and pay for the out-of-warranty service you can find here.

    Strange noise on Xbox series x

    It's not even remotely close to overheating. I live in Florida, my series x sits right beside an AC. The more I look into the problem, the more I believe it's just the plastic getting hot and expanding and contracting. Seeing how I've went over 10 hours never had it close to overheating

    Anyone else experienced their Roku tv overheating when playing x series or its games. (Ex. Gotham knights?)

    It was the tv...was told that the resolution produced by the series X is a little much for it so it overheated. Ubreak fixed the issue.

    If somebody dropped something on it maybe. If it wasn't that way when you got it, then something happened like somebody hitting it or dropping something on it. Only other possibility I can see is if the plastic is distorting from heat. Is it sitting in direct
    sunlight or right in front of a heating vent? Or maybe it's overheating causing the plastic to warp.

    Xbox unexpectedly turns off

    Could be overheating, I used to have the old XONE but it would constantly overheat almost to the point of melting any plastic near it. I would say the fans failed or it's a problem with the ventilation.
