    Let me start off by saying, I've been using this same exact controller for nearly 10 years now and I've never had this problem up until about a week ago, Suddenly (seemingly after a Windows update, although I might be mistaken and that is not the reason), my PC started detecting my controller as 2. I saw that this is quite a common issue but none of the fixes under previous posts have worked for me. For clarification, I've tried pretty much everything - ranging from changing every Steam Input setting possible, to reinstalling drivers, editing devices in the device manager etc. It's worth mentioning that I own 2 official Xbox One controllers, both of which suddenly face the same issue. I suspect the problem has something to do with the system and not Steam, as I've not only tried reinstalling it, but also every other possible option I could find on the internet/think of. If there's any way to possibly resolve this issue, I would truly forever be thankful. Thank you in advance.

    Thanks for the follow-up, and thanks for confirming it's a wired connection. That rules out a few wireless-specific quirks. Since you've already gone deep into drivers and Steam settings, here are a few less obvious but still effective angles worth trying:

    1. Check for “HID-compliant game controller” Conflicts

    Sometimes your controller gets registered twice, once as an Xbox device, and once under generic HID (Human Interface Device), causing double input.

    > Open Device Manager

    > Expand both:

    * Human Interface Devices

    * Sound, video and game controllers

    If you see both:

    > Xbox Controller for Windows and

    > HID-compliant game controller

    try disabling (not uninstalling) the HID one.

    This stops Windows from interpreting the same device through two drivers.

    2. Fully Clean Up Old Xbox Controller Drivers

    Even uninstalling sometimes leaves registry traces that can re-cause the issue. Try using the Windows Device Cleanup Tool (free utility by Uwe Sieber):

    > Download from https://www.uwe-sieber.de/misc_tools_e.html

    > Run as admin

    > Remove all old or duplicate Xbox or HID controller entries

    > Reboot, plug the controller back in

    > Replace xxxx with the VID and PID of your controller (can find in Device Manager under “Details” tab > Hardware IDs)

    > Look for a key called Device Parameters

    > Add a new DWORD (32-bit) value named:

    EnhancedPowerManagementEnabled

    Set it to 0

    Restart your PC.

    Ok, so I've just tried all of these exactly as you've instructed me to and still no luck. This issue is starting to seem very odd to me. One more thing that I noticed beforehand, but didn't think it was of much importance is: whenever I enter Steam's Big Picture Mode and try navigating with a mouse, it seems like the mouse double-clicks every option too. I thought it was still a matter of the controller but now I am beginning to have doubts about the root of this malfunction.

    Hi! First of all, thank you for reaching out. I've tried these solutions and unfortunately no luck. I forgot to mention, the controller is connected to my pc with a cable, so it's not a bluetooth issue. Is there anything else that could be the reason of this occuring?

    Xbox 360 controls do not have a compatibility with windows computers. it is better to use a cboc one control that has a bluetooth connection.
    Yes they do. Any controller that has that uses Xinput will work on Windows 10 that includes Xbox 360 controllers.
