Why is my controller not working

Many people have had this problem before but none of the solutions seem to be working, my Xbox wireless controller just stopped working, I used it to turn on my Xbox but then no buttons would work, I tried resetting the controller and re-syncing the controller but no buttons would work, I’ve attempted to update the controller like many people have found success with and the controller won’t show up in the connections, only my secondary controller, the controller I’m having problems with was working perfectly fine last night so I have no idea why it can turn on my console but isn’t usable

Hi, Hohn! It's my pleasure to assist you with this today.

Kindly try to do these steps and check if it will fix the issue.

Try to connect the controller using a USB cable and see if that will work.

If it does, then try to update the controller

Then press and hold the Power button on the front of your Xbox until the console turns off.

Unplug everything from the back of your Xbox.

Wait 3 minutes, and then plug the power cord and HDMI back in.

Then, please check if that fixes the issue. Thank you!

As posted by M3tal Daz3, you would have to contact
Nintendo support for more information on that seeing as that console is not officially supported by Microsoft and we don't have any information concerning it's ability to do what you're asking.

Hello Jason, by your description it looks like you are trying to connect your control to a PC, make sure you checked if you have the latest version of Windows installed, at 22H2.

See which version of Windows 10 you have

Updates are often seen as optional.

Also, make sure all Xbox Apps are up to date in the store, and make sure you have the Xbox Companion App installed, it works with the Xbox App.

After the updates are made, download the Xbox Accessories App and try to sync the controller first via the USB cable.
