    How do i undo firmware reversion for the elite series 2 controller?


    My controller would not update so I found an article online saying to revert the firmware if there are issues after the previous update so I did that and after that it says firmware is reverted to update to the latest version please press check firmware button so I pressed the update button and it updated so I checked and it said to to turn off the controller so I did and it still said firmware is reverted and I'm scared to press the check firmware button because if I do it might revert the firmware more and say that the controller is unable to pair with the Xbox due to outdated firmware and I won't be able to use it again. I don't have a PC so I can't update it that way I've tried plugging a cable into the port on the Xbox and tried updating it via USB but it didn't work. So what do I do to fix this

    You're all good then. There's nothing wrong with your controller. For some reason, the system is saying an update is available, when it appears it's not yet available to download. Hopefully MS will fix it soon.

    But yeah, in this particular instance, there is no need to roll back firmware or anything like that, because the update never even started. Obviously you don't want to interrupt a firmware update part way through, but here it's failing at 0% because the actual update itself can't be downloaded from MS's servers, so the update process never even starts.

    Which firmware are you on? I'm on 5.23.6.0. You can see that info in the Xbox Accessories app.

    I am having an issue where the "Update" button is lit up, indicating a new firmware update is ready to install, but when I click on it, the progress bar never moves, then after about 30 seconds it said that the firmware update failed as it couldn't be downloaded from the internet.

    If you're having the same issue as me, there is no need to revert to older firmware when it fails. I'm assuming this issue is something MS need to fix at their end.

    My Xbox controller Elite series 2 doesn't update to the latest firmware via Xbos Accesories App (Windows 11, version 23H2)

    Firmware version 517.3202.0 is the latest firmware version available for the Elite Series 2 controller. So your controller has the latest firmware available.

    Don't forget the Elite Series controllers use a different firmware than the other controllers, because it has different features to the standard controllers.

    I have the very same issue with my Xbox Elite Controller Series 2. Very annoying indeed.

    How can the Xbox firmware not be recognized by the PC software? Huge oversight by Microsoft...
