  1. PC Xbox App not working


    My PC xbox app is stuck on the "Launching the xbox app" screen. I have done everything from uninstalling to reinstalling the app and the gaming services. I tried to resolve the issue by updating windows. I can not get in contact with Microsoft and only sends me to AI chats that do not help. I do not know what else do to. Please Help

    I'm sorry you have this problem. Follow the instructions below for a solution.

    If you receive a message that the code has already been redeemed, make sure you haven't redeemed it yourself with another Microsoft account.

    If there are other people in your home who have access to your codes, make sure they have not redeemed them.

    Note Once a code has been redeemed on a Microsoft account, the content cannot be transferred to the correct account.
    Check the Services & Subscriptions page to determine if the subscription has already been redeemed with your account.
    To log in and review your current subscriptions, go to:

    Services and subscriptions
    Check your order history to determine if the Microsoft gift card has already been redeemed with your account:

    Hello! Thanks for your reply and for trying the steps. Kindly also try to delete all files in C:\Users\User_name\AppData\Local\Packages \Microsoft.WindowsStore_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache, and then reboot your pc.

    This will only rescan all your downloaded files in just a few minutes then check the app again.

    I apologize for the inconvenienced this has caused you. I will do my best to help you.

    Please change language settings by opening Settings > Time & Language > Language & Region. Make sure English (United States) is at the top of the list.

    Restart your laptop and access cloud gaming again.

    And then reset the Xbox App. To do this, go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps.

    Find Xbox, click Advanced Options, then select Reset.

    Restart your laptop and check if the issue persists.

    Next is to check your display settings if your laptop has Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) enabled, please disable it in your graphics settings.

    Then update Windows and Xbox App. Ensure that your Windows is up to date, go to Settings > Windows Update.

    Open the Microsoft Store, go to Library, and update the Xbox app.

    If the issue persist after performing the troubleshooting steps, kindly test cloud gaming on a different Wi-Fi network or use a wired connection to a more stable network connection. Please check if this works.

    I know how frustrating it is when the Xbox app just sits on the loading screen, especially after you’ve already reinstalled everything and updated Windows. Let’s try a few more steps that often fix this issue when the basics haven’t worked.

    Step 1: Fully reset the Xbox App and Gaming Services

    Even if you've reinstalled, cached data might still be stuck.

    Press Windows key + R, type:

    wsreset.exe

    Then press Enter.

    This clears the Microsoft Store cache, which also affects Xbox app behavior.

    Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps, find Xbox and click Advanced options.

    Click Terminate, then Repair, then Reset.

    Do the same for Gaming Services and Microsoft Store.

    Step 2: Reinstall Gaming Services via PowerShell

    This method works better than a regular uninstall sometimes.

    Right-click Start, then click Windows PowerShell (Admin)

    Paste the command below and press Enter:

    get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers

    Then run this command:

    start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN

    That will open the Gaming Services install page in Microsoft Store. Click Install, then restart your PC.

    Step 3: Check Xbox-related services

    Xbox Live Networking Service

    Step 4: Disable overlays and third-party apps

    Sometimes, apps like MSI Afterburner, Discord overlay, Razer Cortex, etc., can freeze the Xbox app at launch.

    Try launching the Xbox app after doing a clean boot:

    Press Windows + R, type msconfig

    Go to Services, check “Hide all Microsoft services,” then click Disable all

    Go to Startup tab > Open Task Manager > Disable all items there

    Restart your PC and try the Xbox app again

    If the app opens normally, you can turn things back on one at a time to find the conflict.
