    Hello,

    I am locked out of my Microsoft account because I lost access to my phone with the Microsoft Authenticator app. I also do not have the 25-digit recovery code.

    I still have access to my email, phone number, account password, and trusted devices. I am the rightful owner and am fully willing to verify my identity using any information Microsoft requires.

    When trying to reset my password, I reach the reset page, but I get this error:

    “We couldn’t change your password because your session expired. Please try again.”

    Microsoft support confirmed that this is a known bug and acknowledged it shouldn’t happen. But I was also told that even if the bug didn’t appear, I would still be blocked because two-step verification is enabled.

    I have now been through multiple agents and supervisors (latest case number: 7078777462) who told me there is no possible way to recover my account, even with identity verification.

    I am not asking to bypass 2FA — I am simply asking to prove I’m the rightful owner.

    This issue seems to be a policy limitation combined with a technical bug, and it is blocking account recovery for legitimate users like myself.

    I am respectfully requesting that this be escalated to the Identity Protection Team or anyone with the authority to perform manual identity verification.

    Microsoft Account Login Issue – Ongoing "Temporary Problem" with 2FA (or rather 3FA OTP/SMS both required)

    Phone number 2FA works and routes to another authentication, and the only one available from that point is my OTP or recovery code.

    Said recovery code made almost 10 years ago.

    In that case you have enabled Two Step Verification in your Epic Account. Did you add your Epic Account to an authenticator App like Google Authenticator? In order to enable Two Step Verification you will have to link an authenticator and enter a code from
    your phone authenticator the first time to activate Two Step Verification.

    Also check your E-mails, if you got the code that way.

    If you are unable to authenticate, find the recovery codes you (hopefully) downloaded and stored/printed out.

    If all else fails, you'll have to contact the Epic Games support, as this is an Epic Account issue, not a Xbox related one.

    Since redeemable codes are region-locked, I am afraid that you cannot redeem your code right now until your current subscription expires. You may contact the Xbox Support team to have it canceled manually for you to redeem your new code.
